Maximizing the Baltimore Gift

Now that President Trump and Elijah Cummings have agreed that Baltimore is a severely infested place — rats and rodents according to Trump and drugs according to Cummings — Baltimore is getting more attention than at any time since Johnny Unitas quarterbacked the Colts to an overtime victory against the New York Giants in the 1958 NFL championship game.

Having lived in Annapolis for many years, I have many fond memories of Baltimore.  I’ve had occasion to attend major league baseball games in numerous cities, but none of them matched the experience of being at a Baltimore Orioles game.  There’s nothing quite like Oriole Stadium if you like nostalgia.  Would you believe that the house Babe Ruth was born in is a block away?  Plus, the gigantic roast beef and roast turkey sandwiches are, all by themselves, worth the price of admission.

But baseball is just one aspect of Baltimore’s proud history.  Great restaurants, high-quality theater, impressive museums, and historic mansions abound.  In addition, there’s the attraction-filled Inner Harbor, a great place to spend the day with the entire family.  And, of course, midtown Manhattan is just a two-and-a-half-hour Acela ride away.

Today, however, the Baltimore rat is out of the bag.  Let’s face it, no city can withstand 50+ years of Democratic rule without enduring horrible human suffering.  While Elijah Cummings and his fellow thieves are sipping expensive wine and dining on gourmet food at the finest restaurants in D.C., Baltimorans are left to deal with that dreaded of all racist words, infestation.

It’s time to forget political correctness and tell it like it is:  Today, the once great city of Baltimore is a rat-infested, garbage infested, drug-infested, crime-infested war zone — a combination of Haiti, Honduras, and Afghanistan all rolled into one.  It’s a very sad situation for those of us who know Baltimore’s wonderful history and its many treasures.

But don’t despair.  Baltimore now has the potential to make history yet again by becoming the Democrats’ worst nightmare.  If there’s one thing the Dirty Dems are good at, it’s shooting themselves in the foot.  And they did it again, big time, by feigning outrage over President Trump’s all-too-true statements about Baltimore.

As a result, Baltimore has the potential to become the Republicans’ 2020 version of Willie Horton.  Properly exploited, the rat-garbage-drug-crime infestation in Baltimore should prove to be a huge gift to Donald Trump and Republicans in next year’s elections.  I say should rather than will, because the question is whether Republican strategists will have the smarts and the courage to maximize the potential of this incredible gift.

For starters, President Trump should make multiple visits to Baltimore between now and the 2020 election, always accompanied by a sizable group of his most hi-profile African-American supporters — people like Robert Woodson, Bruce LeVell, Star Parker, Ben Carson, Burgess Owens, Deneen Borelli, Horace Cooper, Niger Innis, et al.  The clearly expressed purpose of his visits should be to educate residents on the gigantic scam the Democratic Party has perpetrated against them for more than a half century.

The president should adopt a take-no-prisoners attitude when it comes to disclosing the truth to the citizens of Baltimore.  He should spare none of the gory details and give the Dirty Dems a taste of their own medicine.  Nothing and nobody should be off limits.  For example, he should disrobe Elijah Cummings by detailing the good life he leads in D.C. while his constituents struggle to survive amidst rats, garbage, drugs, and murder just 40 miles down the road in Baltimore.

Trump should hammer home two points in particular:  (1) that Democrats say they want to control the earth’s climate and be in charge of healthcare, but they can’t even figure out how to dispose of garbage in Baltimore or keep feces off the sidewalks of San Francisco and Los Angeles, and (2) that Democrats do not deem Baltimore residents to be worthy of the same special treatment that illegal immigrants receive.

I have said it since Donald Trump was elected to office, and I’ll say it again:  I am absolutely certain that if he is willing to put forth the effort, the president can win a majority of the black vote.  On the whole, blacks tend to be very conservative, but Republicans have never bothered to engage them.  If Trump uses the Democrats’ Baltimore gift wisely, he will gain the support of African-Americans and easily win in 2020.  As a bonus, such a result would have many Radical Left crazies jumping off tall buildings.

The most certain way to accomplish this is for Trump to use the Baltimore gift as a springboard to engage blacks in inner-city communities throughout the country.  But he cannot be tepid in his remarks.  He has to be willing to name names and be specific about how Democrats have been playing African-Americans for suckers for decades.

Oh, yes, and while you’re at it, Mr. President, why not start engaging Hispanic communities as well.  They, too, are conservative by nature.  I know, because I’m married to one who makes me me feel like I’m a liberal by comparison.
