Cherry-Picking January 6

Even people who are basically honest lie now and then, often for no other reason than they don’t want to hurt someone’s feelings.  But in the world of politics, lying has long been an art form.  The mental dwarfs in D.C. have come a long way since George Washington admitted to his father that he cut down the cherry tree.

One could argue that lying has actually become a form of currency in Washington, because it seems that the more politicians lie, the more they stand to gain in money and power.  Don’t get me wrong, not every politician is a serial liar.  In fact, I would argue that there are a few Republicans who only tell little white lies now and then.  By contrast, of course, Democrats traffic mostly in whoppers, 24/7.

When I use the word whopper, I’m referring to The Big Lie — a lie so gigantic and so easily proven to be untrue that an honest person can’t conceive of anyone actually using it.  Nevertheless, in the halls of Congress, in the White House, and, yes, even in the chambers of the Supreme Court, The Big Lie is worn as a badge of honor in the Age of Wokeness.

(Even Ketanji Jackson, who’s still scratching her head trying to figure out how to define a woman, can’t outdo Sonia Sotomayor’s famously blurting out, “We have over 100,000 children, which we’ve never had before, in serious condition, and many on ventilators.”  Huh?)

Which brings me to Tucker Carlson and his brutal disrobing of the January 6 insurrection hoax, which is probably the second-biggest lie of our age, right behind the non-existent “climate-change crisis.”  Democrats and their media propaganda arms are foaming at the mouth since Tucker’s two shows aired on the January 6 “insurrection.”  Given that the videos he shared make it clear that the so-called January 6 Commission lied about virtually everything, the Democrats’ new talking point is “Tucker Carlson cherrypicked the videos.”

The proper response to that charge is, “So what?”  Technically speaking, they’re right, just as the footage the January 6 Committee allowed the public to see was cherrypicked.  So now, much to the chagrin of those on the left, we’ve had the opportunity to see both the violent and non-violent parts of the January 6 protest rally.  Why would anyone object to seeing everything as opposed to seeing just one side?

Let’s face it, in today’s world it’s not uncommon for a handful of hooligans to get carried away and engage in violence at large gatherings, and when it happens, it’s no big deal.  People break the law every day, and when they do, they should be punished.  Jan 6 is no exception.  But Pearl Harbor or 9/11?  C’mon, man, gimme a break.

It’s almost impossible to get numbers out of the keepers of the January 6 insurrection lie, but from the pictures we’ve been allowed to see, there appeared to be at least 10,000 people at the rally, and it could very well have been several times that number.  What even the January 6 Committee’s cherry-picked videos show is that a relatively small number of them got carried away and engaged the police in fisticuffs.

Yet, not one protestor threw a frozen water bottle or any other dangerous object at the police.  Nor did anyone set fire to police cars or federal buildings like Antifa and Black Lives Matter have done in cities across the country.  Isn’t it interesting that no one calls Antifa or BLM rioters insurrectionists and no one says their actions were worse than Pearl Harbor or 9/11?

But when a small percentage of protestors got carried away on January 6, it was at a Trump rally, and that made all the difference in the world to the hopelessly corrupt Democrats and RINOs.  If the DOJ used the same standard of justice for the January 6 protestors that it has for Antifa and BLM rioters, not one of them would be in jail today.

So, yes, Tucker “cherrypicked” the footage he showed, just as Liz Cheney & Company cherry-picked the footage they showed.  I have no problem with them showing some January 6 protestors engaging in violence, because that was absolutely true.  But it’s also absolutely true that Tucker’s selected footage showed far more people peacefully protesting, many of them walking calmly through the Capitol Building seemingly escorted by police.

The fact that not one January 6 protestor has been charged with insurrection tells any halfway honest, rational person everything he needs to know about the establishment’s absurd insurrection narrative.  Now it’s up to Republicans to find their long-missing spine and demand that the January 6 political prisoners be released immediately.
