A friend recently asked me, “Whatever happened to such virtues as honesty, self discipline, non violence, self sufficiency, a good work ethic, respect for elders, aggrandizement of achievement, planning for the future, reverence for the family unit, civility toward others, respect for everyone else’s property, and, above all, the belief that every individual has a right to be left alone?”

I assured him that all these, and more, are still around — just visible in far fewer people than in the days of yore. If you’re one of those who still possesses these virtues, it’s probably not wise to squander them by trying to save those who are hopelessly lost. Instead, make the effort to attract individuals into your life who have chosen to take the road less traveled.

Who knows? Perhaps we’ll all meet someday in Galt’s Gulch.
