When the story broke that Mika and Morning Joe met with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago, the Trump-is-Hitler crowd went crazy (actually, got crazier).  After all, the rank-and-file doofuses in the anti-Trump movement have never doubted that the legacy media pundits are sincere in their beliefs.  Now, however, it appears that Mika and Joe have been taking their audience on a ride that even Disneyland imagineers would have trouble matching.  Where that ride will ultimately take them remains to be seen, but if you’re into psychology, it should be fun to watch.

No doubt that in a majority of cases, Democrat activists posing as journalists actually do hate Donald Trump and all those who voted for him, but the one thing that trumps Trump is self-interest.  In a desperate attempt to escape having their show cancelled, Mika and Joe were willing to degrade themselves by meeting with the guy they were still calling a fascist just a few days earlier. 

That said, given that everyone always acts in his/her own self-interest, there’s much more to the story than just Mika and Joe.  Chris Cuomo, Don Lemon, and, most recently, Chris Wallace are just a few of the more well-known names CNN has dumped, and the network has been talking about the need to bring more conservatives on board.  Even more eye-opening is the fact that the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times both refused to endorse Kamala in the last election, and major advertisers are returning to X in droves.  And, of course, there are Sunny Hostin’s angry walk-backs to keep from getting canned.  It’s not complicated:  When money is on the line, people will readily eat crow in exchange for eating well.

But perhaps the most ominous sign of all that bad times are coming for leftwing media pit bulls is Comcast’s decision to spin off MSNBC.  Clearly, the company sees the writing on the wall for cable and recognizes the huge potential in streaming.  Peacock added 3 million subscribers during the third quarter of fiscal 2024, while Comcast cable lost 365,000 customers during the same period.  If the new MSNBC becomes a legitimate news organization, its execs are likely to prefer profit over politics, which could result in pink slips for odious characters like Joy Ried, Nicolle Wallace, and Lawrence O’Donnell.

What is going on here is something known as “disruption,” or radical change.  Geologists, paleontologists, and climatologists assure us that the earth has experienced major disruptions for 4.5 billion years, eons before modern man appeared on the scene.  Since the advent of humankind, however, new kinds of disruptions have occurred.  The Agrarian Revolution resulted in man evolving from hunter to farmer and, ultimately, city dweller.  Much later, the Industrial Revolution in the 18^th century impacted people around the globe by reshaping economies and societies through major changes in manufacturing, transportation, and technology.  More recently, computers, and later the Internet, disrupted the way business had been done throughout modern history.

Since its inception, the United States has experienced numerous sociological disruptions, perhaps the biggest being Abrahm Lincoln’s signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, followed by the North’s victory in the ensuing Civil War and passage of the 13^th Amendment.  The disruption brought about by all this resulted in 4 million slaves being freed and becoming U.S. citizens, which led to Reconstruction, Jim Crow laws, the Civil Rights Act, and, finally, today’s colorblind society.

What is happening in the United States today, however, has the potential be an even bigger disruption than the Civil War.  What started as a bad joke to many in 2015, when Donald Trump came down the golden escalator, has evolved into a boisterous movement that has gained support from tens of millions of people from all walks of life.  While the movement is usually referred to as MAGA or America First, in reality it has inspired similar disruptions in Argentina, El Salvadore, the UK, and other countries throughout the world, and leaders around the globe are becoming increasingly nervous about their tenuous grip on power.

It’s no longer Republicans versus Democrats, nor is it rich versus poor or whites versus blacks.  What has the potential to become the most widespread manmade disruption the modern world has ever experienced is nothing less than freedom-loving people versus intrusive government.  This is anathema to those who benefit from the status quo, because disruption gives birth to change.  It’s especially true of those who enjoy the good life, and nowhere do people enjoy cushy lives more than in Washington, D.C. — particularly elected officials, bureaucrats, and well-connected folks who profit from their government affiliations.

It shouldn’t be surprising then that uniparty folks have let it be known they are reloading and preparing to fight against disruption and resist change by any means necessary.  Repeat, any means necessary.  Which is why it makes me uneasy when pundits tout the recent election as a landslide.  It’s true that Republicans won the all seven swing states and the popular vote, but the harsh reality is that nearly half of all voters voted for an unaccomplished, low-IQ woman who failed to give a serious answer to a single question throughout her embarrassing billion-dollar campaign.  That’s a whole lot of people who do not want change and are ready to fight to the death to prevent it.

As I said in my November 6 article, “The Eternal War for Freedom,” it’s wise not to spend too much time celebrating the victories on November 5, because the gains made via disruption could disappear in two short years when the midterm elections roll around.  In the meantime, believe Democrats when they make it clear that not only have they learned nothing from the results of the last election, they have no interest in learning what voters want.  Their sole focus is on power, and they are willing to continue lying, cheating, and resorting to violence, including provoking nuclear war with Russia, in order to achieve it.

Sounds crazy, to be sure, but it’s wise to always believe threats from mentally unstable people.
