The ongoing, nonstop stream of lies coming out of Washington should make truth lovers love truth all the more. Unfortunately, however, most people do not love truth, which is why messengers are so universally hated. By messengers, of course, I’m referring to those bad guys who have an annoying habit of exposing lies and cover-ups … and cover-ups of cover-ups … and cover-ups of cover-ups of cover-ups.

But no matter how many dead messengers we leave lying at our feet, and despite how vigorously we try to hide from truth, truth always finds a way to survive and deliver its consequences to us — and the consequences can be quite severe. Even better, the greater the repression of truth and the longer the repression takes place, the graver the ultimate consequences.

Seems self-evident to me, but for some reason I have this feeling that most D.C. elitists don’t it. It would be nice to be able to fast forward a few years to see how many of them end up going the way of Scooter Libby, John Edwards, Richard Nixon, et al.

After all, it’s a matter of social justice, isn’t it?
