“Reform”— what a great word. Politicians love to invoke it as a way to avoid discussing their real agendas.

For example, when Republicans use the term “immigration reform,” they mean building a fence along the southern border of the U.S., making it illegal for businesses to hire undocumented aliens, and outlawing “anchor babies,” among other things.

For Democrats, immigration reform means expanding welfare benefits to undocumented aliens, making it easier for them to vote, and finding a way around the (damn) Constitution to grant them amnesty.

Then there’s “tax reform.” To Republicans, tax reform means cutting taxes across the board. To Democrats, it means higher taxes on “the rich” and the middle class.

And so on. “Reform” might just be the greatest B.S. word ever invented for those who love gridlock.
