I had almost forgotten why …

I had almost forgotten why I rarely go to movies anymore, but I was given a harsh reminder last weekend when my family dragged me to see “Jurassic World” on Father’s Day. Throughout the movie, I couldn’t help but wonder what I had done to them that would cause them want to see me suffer like this.

I would say that “Jurassic World” is the worst movie ever made, but, in all honesty, I would have to rate it just above Sylvester Stallone’s first flick, “The Lords of Flatbush.”

Just as people get the government they deserve, they also get the movies they deserve. Most people in America — particular young people — have tapioca between their ears. So Hollywood gives them what they deserve — tapioca-drenched movies.

I won’t dignify the film by reviewing it in depth, but let it just suffice to say that the red-headed gal — who was easily the worst actress I’ve seen since Ali McGraw in her heyday (but without the good looks) — would have been more convincing as a waitress in a greasy-spoon diner than as a corporate executive.

The highlight of the movie was when Ms. Executive was running through mud in high heels. The realism of it overwhelmed me. All in all, the dinosaurs probably did the best job of acting, but they’re getting to be old hat. I don’t like pets that are perpetually irritable.

To end on a positive note, let me say that, hard as it is to believe, there have actually been some good movies made over the past twenty-five years. But “Jurassic World” isn’t one of them. However, if you like embarrassingly bad acting, corny lines, and no discernible plot, be my guest.

P.S. Has anyone figured out who the stocky guy was who suddenly appeared in the film and, with no visible credentials or authority, announced he was taking charge? I could use a take-charge mystery man like him in my business.
