As you watch the government …

As you watch the government increasingly violate its own laws, it may remind you that there are a great many laws on the books that you abide by, but with which you disagree. A tough question then, is whether or not you should obey laws that you believe to be immoral.

Unfortunately, we are not operating in an antiseptic cosmic laboratory stocked with rational people brimming over with rational thoughts. If you ignore this reality, you do so at your own peril.
Man-made laws are a reality, regardless of whether or not they are rational or moral, and regardless of whether or not you or I like them.

Therefore, within reason, and to the extent possible, it’s pragmatic to obey man-made laws. Why? Because it’s extremely difficult to achieve success operating out of a prison cell!

But the flip side of the morality coin is that even though you may choose to obey certain laws for pragmatic reasons, that should have little or no effect on your personal moral beliefs. On the contrary, an important key to a life well lived is to clearly define your own set of moral standards as a guide to your daily behavior, while never losing sight of the harsh realities of man-made laws.

Neither government, activists groups, nor any individual has the power to determine your personal moral code. Always cherish the fact that you are a sovereign being, regardless of the immoral madness what goes on around you. And never lose sight of the reality that it’s up to you to defend that sovereignty.
