Wake Up, Republicans!

President Trump laid yet another delicate tweet on his detractors when he wrote, “The Never Trumper Republicans, though on respirators with not many left, are in certain ways worse and more dangerous for our Country than the Do Nothing Democrats.  Watch out for them, they are human scum!”  The media went crazy and Never Trumpers, of course, were appalled.

Sorry, guys, but scum perfectly describes Never Trumpers like Pierre Dilecto.  Of course, nothing Pierre says or does surprises me, because he is perennially indignant and offended.  But why in the world would an unknown guy like Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) feel an uncontrollable urge to blurt out, in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer (of course), “To call anybody human scum is beneath the office of the presidency.”

A day earlier, Kinzinger chimed in on Trump’s lynching tweet about the impeachment inquiry when he said, “We can all disagree on the process, and argue merits.  But never should we use terms like ‘lynching’ here.  The painful scourge in our history has no comparison to politics, and @realDonaldTrump should retract this immediately.  May God help us to return to a better way.”

If there’s anything that can bring a smile to the faces of unscrupulous Democrats, it’s watching an obscure Republican House member scolding a Republican president.  It gives them reassurance that all is well in the swamp and that Republicans still understand who is in control of things.

Apparently, Kinzinger wants God to help us return to the good old the days when only Democrats were allowed to use words like scum and lynching, a time when they could defame Republicans with the most vicious words and accusations imaginable and Republicans could be counted on to take it all in stride and not dare to return fire.

A good definition of lynching is “a premeditated extrajudicial killing by a group.”  Metaphorically speaking, it’s a definition that perfectly describes what has been happening to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president on June 16, 2015.

Which is why White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham was absolutely right when she said, “The people who are against him and who have been against him and working against him since the day they took office are just that.”  Would that all Republican congressmen and women possessed the honesty and courage of Stephanie Grisham.

Jerry Nadler should feel relieved after hearing Grisham’s comment, since he himself has said, on no less than three occasions, that Republicans were acting like a “lynch mob” (with regard to Bill Clinton’s impeachment).  Charlie Rangel accused Republicans of having a “lynch mob mentality” on the same issue.  And, as one would expect, China Joe chimed in with, “History is going to question whether or not this was just a partisan lynching.”  The Democrats are not just contemptible, they are hypocritically contemptible.

The list goes on:  Mitch McConnell, not to be outdone, added, “Given the history in our country, I would not compare this to a lynching.  That was an unfortunate choice of words.”  The turtle is so incapable of controlling his urge to take subtle jabs at President Trump and other principled Republicans that it makes one wonder if he suffers from Tourette’s Syndrome.

Finally, House speaker Kevin McCarthy, doing his best to imitate his ex-boss Paul Ryan, got in the act by saying, “That’s not the language I would use.”  Psst:  Kevin, no one cares what language you would use.  What they care about is you having the character and gonads to unconditionally support the president.

I could fill a book with such holier-than-thou garbage, but the bottom line is that too many Republicans jump at any opportunity not only to criticize Trump, but anyone in their own party who dares to offend Democrats.  Perhaps they believe that if they just display enough sanctimoniousness in attacking fellow Republicans, Democrats will love them as much as they did John McCain and Jack Kemp.

It’s interesting to conjecture what kind of mental issues cause people like Mitt Romney, John McCain, and Paul Ryan to continually pound their chests and give pious lectures to others.  In the case of Romney and McCain, I suspect that the humiliating defeats they suffered at the hands of a ne’er do well community organizer, with zero credentials and a well-documented Marxist past, smashed their delicate egos beyond repair.  McCain died a bitter, vindictive old man, and Romney is clearly headed for the same fate.

Paul Ryan, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be bitter, because his self-righteousness has different roots.  He not only was prom king of his high school class, but, with the skill of a great Broadway performer, has continued to play that role in real life.  In other words, he’s a small-town big shot who makes the fatal mistake of taking himself too seriously.  News flash, Paul:  The prom is over!

Today, more than ever, Republicans happily play the role of useful idiots for the Dirty Dems.  Their attitude is, “I simply have to speak up when I don’t approve of something.”  Wrong!  You don’t have to speak up.  You choose to speak up.  What you need to do is get your wussy head screwed on straight and stop trying to make people believe you’re Mahatma Gandhi.  You aren’t.

The underlying problem to all this is that Republicans think they’re playing a parlor game, while Democrats view it as a death-to-the-finish war.  Which is why the Dirty Dems are so ruthlessly aggressive and openly display a take-no-prisoners attitude toward Republicans.  They are absolutely convinced that their virtuous goals justify their wicked words and actions.  Above all, unlike their Republican adversaries, every Democrat understands that compromising with the enemy is strictly verboten.

Make no mistake about it, we are at war with social-justice barbarians who are devouring the very soul of our nation.  My message to Republicans is this:  Your saintliness is impressive and all that, but it’s time to shut up and pull out the brass knuckles.  If you can’t muster the character and courage to adopt a killer attitude toward the enemy, do everyone a big favor and switch parties, post haste.  Trust me, you will not be missed.

Wake up, Republicans!  The survival of America is at stake — literally.
