While virtually everyone claims to be in favor of freedom, there is much disagreement about what freedom really means. One person’s idea of freedom might mean his being able to do whatever he wants with his own life, while another person’s idea of freedom might mean his being able to do whatever he wants with other people’s lives.

Freedom begins with a concept called Natural Law. The underlying premise of Natural Law is that every individual owns his own life and therefore has the right to do whatever he desires with his life so long as he does not forcibly interfere with the life of any other person.

Anyone who agrees with the premise of Natural Law is also obliged to agree that no one has the authority to grant rights to anyone else, because human beings already possess all natural rights at birth. These natural rights include both personal and economic freedoms, and the only way they can be lost is if someone takes them away by force.

This is precisely what most political action groups are about. People who join such groups believe they should be free to force you to do what is in their best interest rather than yours.

Remember this when a political activist comes knocking at your door.
