The divergence of opinion on …

The divergence of opinion on so many important issues never ceases to amaze me — manmade climate change, abortion, isolationism vs a strong, worldwide military presence, the evils of capitalism versus the morality of capitalism, and endless controversies about foods and vitamin supplements. (As just one example, some experts say selenium prevents cancer, while others insist it actually causes cancer!)

But the hotly debated question I’m focused on right now is whether or not to get a flu shot. Like most things in life, you pretty much have to do a lot of reading, then draw your own conclusion. I’ve usually opted to get vaccinated, but there have been many years when I’ve taken a pass.

This year the scare mongering has been pretty strong, so I decided to go online and peruse a few web pages. Unfortunately, if you Google “Why you should get a flu shot” and “Why you should not get a flu shot,” it leaves you pretty much flipping a coin. So I’m going to give it some more thought while waiting for CVS’s next batch of flu vaccine to arrive.

I’d be very interested in knowing where do you stand on this annual issue — for or against? — and, in either case, why?
