Once again shaking the very foundation of establishment statists, on Monday Donald Trump called for a “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States … until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses.”

So here I am again, totally perplexed. Why can’t I ever seem to get it? It seems like everyone — including virtually all of his “conservative” GOP rivals — has gone after Trump with tar and feathers in hand.

And here I am wondering, “How could anyone possibly disagree with what he said?” His remarks were entirely rational — which, given that we live in a totally irrational world, might be the problem. Perhaps we’re gone so far over the zany left edge that most people cannot even recognize a rational statement when they hear it.
