I have often reminded readers that the majority opinion is usually an opinion offered by fools, which is why the majority generally harbors a strong dislike for truth. That said, it occurred to me this morning that some readers might come to believe that just because a majority believes something, that, of and by itself, means that it must be false. Not so.

Whether something is widely believed or believed by very few is not the issue. When it comes to the question of deciding whether something is true or false, the most important tool you have at your disposal is reason. Unfortunately, your ability to apply sound judgment to everything your ears take in is not always easy, because it tends to be in opposition to emotion.

Emotion is important to sound mental health, but when it comes to major issues, it’s usually wise to give veto powers to reason.
