Will the 2012 elections be suspended?
By Robert Ringer - Thursday, September 29, 2011
Left-wing Democratic Governor Beverly Perdue of North Carolina, who is headed for defeat in 2012, created quite a stir recently when she said at the Rotary Club in Cary, North Carolina:
I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress for two years and just tell them we won’t hold it against them — whatever decisions they make — to just let them help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that. You want people who don’t worry about the next election.
Now Governor Perdue’s aides claim she was just joking. Perhaps … but my wife has long held to a theory that when people joke about something, they really mean it, even if they aren’t consciously aware of it. And my own experience over the years tends to support that theory.
Regardless, Governor Perdue’s “joke” should be taken very seriously by all Americans. Not because she has the power to suspend the 2012 elections, but because Barack Obama has the power to do it. Longtime Voice of Sanity readers will recall that I started writing about this threat shortly after BHO was elected.
I based my concerns on what the Radical-in-Chief (credit Stanley Kurtz) actually wrote in his book Dreams from My Father, his audio and video trail, and, most important, his actions once he took office. Like millions of other Americans, I was deeply concerned about even the conservative media’s refusal to speak openly about this self-professed collectivist who has been surrounded by far-left radicals all his life.
In an article back in September 2009, I wrote:
The single biggest threat to Americans is not healthcare. What we should be worrying about is a well-planned progressive “crisis” that will leave BHO “no choice” but to declare a state of emergency. As I have previously written, the Dems know they are going down in flames in 2010, so the only way they can prevent that from happening is to suspend elections.
I won’t make a flat-out prediction that it’s going to happen, because I’m hoping it won’t. But it’s something that all Americans should be prepared for, so if and when it does happen, they won’t be fooled into welcoming a newer, slimmer version of Mussolini establishing a “temporary” dictatorship.
Thankfully, the state of emergency did not happen, but the Republican landslide did. This time around, however, there’s much more at stake. If the Democrats lose both chambers of Congress and BHO is swept out of office, the far left will have failed to capitalize on (as Paul Krugman put it) “this progressive moment in American history.”
Again, I’m not flatly predicting a crisis that would lead to Barack Obama’s implementation of a state of emergency and postponement of the 2012 elections. But I do remain concerned about it. Remember, BHO has been ignoring Congress and doing pretty much whatever he pleases since the day he took office.
The Founding Fathers had good intentions when they wrote the Constitution, but, as the years have passed, its contents have become more theory than reality. I say theory, because they had no ironclad safeguard for preventing a president (or Congress) from ignoring the Constitution.
In The Federalist Papers, James Madison spelled out this danger pretty clearly when he warned, “In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: You must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”
If by next spring or summer the polls show that Obama and congressional Democrats are going to be blown out of office, we would all be wise to be on the lookout for a phony crisis that could be used as an excuse for a state of emergency and suspension of the 2012 elections.
Even though many will laugh at you for saying it, spread the word, because the more people talk about it, the more reluctant Obama and his congressional allies would be to try such an extreme power grab. Never forget: This is the man who repeatedly stated, clearly and unequivocally, that he wanted to fundamentally transform the United States of America. And I have never seen any reason not to take him at his word.
Having said this, let’s hope that elections are held in 2012 and that libertarians and strict constitutional conservatives take control of the executive and both houses of Congress. Then, let’s be just as vigilant about making certain that they, too, understand the constitutional limitations on their power.

This is a very serious matter: Governor Beverly Perdue’s statement was picked up by Drudge, and then it turned into a national story. After the story went national, Perdue’s propaganda staff tried to play it off as merely “hyperbole” or a “joke.” I posted a link to the “joke” below, so that you can decide for yourself if Governor Perdue was joking or not.

Frankly, it doesn’t sound anything like a joke to me, but, rather, a classic Freudian slip of the tongue. If you have worked diligently on self improvement by cultivating the skills of a good listener, then political parapraxis will not escape your notice because most amerikan politicians are so full of you know what that it’s coming out of their ears and mouths almost all of the time.
“Spread the word.”
Yes, I and many others who are fully awake are already on it; the cognoscenti are already vigorously spreading the word and detailing some of the possible scenarios; For example, Alex Jones interviewed Webster Griffin Tarpley last night on his nightly news program. During the interview it was presciently noted that if a state of emergency is declared sometime this year, then Obama might not end up in control. Who, then, would end up as the front/strong man in control of amerika?
The current Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, David Howell Petraeus, or somebody like him would likely end up as the strong man used by the oligarchy to “restore law and order” during the coming worldwide crisis. If the crisis hits sometime before the elections, then don’t be surprised if Obama gets put out of office early.
Of course this type of prescient analysis might come as a shock to some of you disbelieving R.I.N.O.- Republican-useful-idiots who get your daily dose of propaganda from Fox News, but it’s no surprise to the cognoscenti. So go ahead and adulate along with those bobble-heads on Fox News over the latest savior/distraction , i.e. Gov. Chris Christie (aka Jabba the Hut) or Fed-bankster Herman Cain.
Meanwhile, I’ll be supporting the alternative media in what’s now fast becoming an historic Gutenberg moment of truth.
This is no mere Freudian slip. This is a DNC soldier who was given the mission to send up a trial balloon. This happens a lot with Obama, have someone else risk political suicide to see if the message resonates. It was also brought up in an article by a former WH aide in, I believe the New Republic, that states that perhaps now is the time for “less democracy.”
If the point resonates it will become a talking point. Where they will try to spin this to get the public drones to agree. Hitler did something similar.
May God Bless America
Bingo…
This is a strategy our current WH uses to “test the waters”, if the media is asleep and does not acknowledge the potential danger to American ideology; watch and see who picks it up for future use.
“If the Republicans lose both chambers of Congress and BHO is swept out of office…”
I believe “Rbublicans should read Democrats in the above quote..
The crisis in 2012 as it is now goes by the name obama
I do not believe the the US military would support our fearless leader in any such obvious ploy.
What an incredible statement to make by a duly elected official of the United States of America. It ought to cause shivers run up your spine.
This was no joke but rather a testing of puplic opinion.
At least we now know her true thinking.
Ms. Amador,
You, SMC123 and many others have made some very salient points regarding “trial balloons” and similar hitlerian tactics that may or may not be part of an organized effort to test out what and what not the ignorant masses will currently let themselves be subject to.
It’s also been pointed out that the Super Congress (aka The Twelve Tyrants) is another serious “trial balloon” employed to test the will of the people and bypass The Constitution in order to further centralize power.
Posse Comitatus is also currently being tested all over the U.S.a. (sic) by allowing the hegemonistic U.S.M.(U.S. Military) to conduct joint operations with state and local law enforcement.
I know this might come as a shock to some, but the U.S.M. is conducting joint operations at D.U.I./D.W.I. roadblocks along with domestic police forces and national guard units. The U.S.M. is running various domestic drills.
The cognoscenti have been warning about the danger of violating Posse Comitatus for some time; however, faineant minds refuse to heed the warnings. It seems most sheeple would rather focus on some Federal Reserve Pimp like Herman Cain as their next savior. Yes, go—run to the the God Father, so he can save you.
By the way: That’s the next phony who’s on my list: Cain. Tricky Perry has been sufficiently exposed, now it’s high time that due attention is given to that God Father Pimp: Herman Cain. Wait to all you R.I.N.O.s find out the truth about this pimpish satrap. He needs to be profile, so the truth can come out.
And if gun-grabbing Jabba the Hut decides to runs for Dictator-in-Chief, then I’ll take aim at him, too.
Good points RS,
but… please use care with the “target” language.
I know you feel safe out there on your ranch, but your IP address(es) is/are just one phone call away from exposure.
Somehow I suspect you have not been visited in the middle of the night….
Topeka,
Since you’ve raise the issue of violence, then here is my advice: “spread the word.” Now is not the time for violence.
As Mr. Ringer so correctly pointed out in his earlier article, “Splitting the U.S. in Half…..Those who long for a left-wing dictatorship do want to see a violent revolution. Why do you think they keep encouraging worker uprisings — out of boredom? Violent uprisings are an excuse for government to implement a state of emergency and suspend habeas corpus.”
I say that now is NOT the time for violence: Now IS the time to join the NRA and GOA. Now Is the time to stock up on basic supplies. Now IS the time to educate, educate and educate.
Just curious: When – if ever – were you involved in any form of personal mortal-combat, in military service?!
I hope they push it through because it will be the end of the USAB (United States Bolshevik Party), as we know it.
If we had term limits, this crap would not be up for discussion.
The maneuver is simple: You don’t call out the military. So they are disobeying orders if they stop the politicians. The military would then have to risk a coup – outright treason – to stop them. Who then would stand up to stop it? Even if our cops decided to take our side, their remedy would be non-enforcement. For now, I think few in law-enforcement would shoot the natives.
And to “enforce” the suspension of elections, they have only to continue doing what they already have done: Ignore courts, Cut off funds, Send SWAT teams into the homes of troublemakers, Make arrests, Launch Audits and Investigations. Who will dare being wiped out?
Plus they can count on plenty of faux-con, RINO support.
If they had one iota of the brains they claim to have, it would have been a done deal last fall. They only need a small excuse to put us all away. (Yeah, I’m channeling Rice.)
The only reason they haven’t, IMHO: their paymasters don’t want the Geese to wake up and realize they are supposed to work their entire lives away to support the idle Socialist Bizzillionaire crowd and their Govt friends. Overt force might wake up the 20-40 crowd.
(I don’t believe that last bit: I believe the e-lites are afraid their public bamboozle machine might have miss fired. I know these people and they really think highly intelligent, knowledgeable young people want to be their slaves, ergo they think the public edumacated idiots are the Tea Partiers. Seriously, I know these people and the only grocery stores they darken are Central Market and Whole Foods. We have a strong conservative, youth movement, but statistically this group amounts to a rounding error. … before adding back the “missing” illegals.)
Just a SWAG…
Remember, there are thousands of SAM’s missing in Libya. Wait till they bring down a plane a few days before the election. Obama’s finest dream…
He has tried almost everything else. Let illegals stay. Turn a blind eye to them. “Fast and Furious” arming Mexican drug lords and killing US citizens on US territory. Freeing numerous terrorists from Gitmo (funny how you don’t hear the press moaning about the “unfair” treatment given to them now that we have a demorat in office).
Doing nothing while Iran develops nuclear weapons… well.. he threatened them. Starting wars all over the place. And about to start one in Pakistan… while doing his best to provoke a war with China.
I’m just sayin’
Good analysis, RR, but if the election suspension does happen, what ought we to do? Other than having a bug-out bag ready with all the necessary stuff to survive for awhile off the grid, what else? Do we really think Obama gives a rat’s rear end that we have gotten ourselves educated as to what is happening? I’m thinking that in addition to all our education, guns, ammo, survival gear, etc., we should definitely add prayer to the head of the list.
a great read from a living austrian economist (hoppe) is “democracy: the god that failed”. elections/voting is one of this failed deity’s catechisms.
i have been urging friends, acquaintances and strangers to voluntarily eschew the assumption of false comfort and sense of security buzz they experience from participatory violence. voting is violence is literally true alliteration.
heresy, i know, and i have experienced the dumb stares and the vituperation of would-be inquisitors for verbalizing this truism. The roundheads hear me saying the earth is flat.
so, not voting is not negative (in the way that not not is not negative, you might say).
the problem lies elsewhere.
first, of course, emphasis must go to the booboisie’s (thank you, mencken) obliviousness to the reality, truth that the hands holding the knives plunged into their backs being retracted is a good thing (with the corollary point that it is also good that the individual boobs retract their own knives, too). of course, it is obliviousness that makes boobs, and congealing that makes booboisie, and from there a circle-jerk slam-dance with knives fails to surprise.
but the point of emphasis of this non-freudian slip (unless there is some way to weave the sexual into the topic that i am unaware of…) is another facet of obliviousness: the dependably visceral/psychological response to having something taken from you.
there is no shortage of studies, experiments verifying this. look it up if you don’t believe my little anecdote:
i was in sales for a time (vicissitude & exigency, not preference…). it was direct sales, straight commission, and it took place in prospect’s living rooms, kitchens. a sit normally took 2 to 2.5 hours. the particular sit that illustrates my point took 6 hours (but there were others that were essentially the same that resolved in less time).
the pitch, of course, was full of qualifying questions (that elicited “yeses”, nods, agreement from the prospects…analogously these are amens and hosannas) and minor closes. but after the main pitch was concluded, my part of the conversation distilled to close, close, close.
one close after another, after another, after another. until there was only one close left in my bag. it’s called the take away close. again, look it up.
paraphrasing (this is not some engraved life’s highlight, just something I learned), i told the prospects (it was always husband and wife) that the opportunity/product was obviously not for them as I reached across the table to the contract that was facing them, had been facing them for hours, put my hand on it, slowly spun it around, and began slowly sliding it back to my side of the table.
you already know what happened. the husband grabbed the contract back from me, and signed it. not only that, I had told them that I was in a contest my employer had devised such that the salesperson who accumulated the most referrals would win a trip to vegas…and the referrals these now customers provided me, in the final hour of the call, (more than 50), got me that trip to vegas.
the prospects didn’t even want what I was selling. but they did not want what I was selling taken away, even more.
reunion,
You are an idea whose time has not come; I mean that as the highest possible complement.
rs….time rolls along independently. what comes, contents, is brought.
bring it……
thx…….
True, in the past, the classic usage of the term “freudian slip” was limited narrowly to psychoanalysis of the id’s base desires. Over time, however, the term has been debased into a broader usage (hmmm…broad i.e. female, no conscious pun intended, sorry).
The expression, Freudian slip, like so many other english expressions, has evolved into a more versatile term.
For the sake of clarity, not semantics, I feel that Governor Beverly Perdue revealed a “repressed” wish when she said, “I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, elections for Congress……” i.e. this is a “freudian slip” in my opinion. If you want to believe her statement is something else, and not a just a slip of any kind, but something such as a wider conspiracy, then my mind is open to those theories.
By the way, Governor Beverly Perdue is now claiming that her statement was a sarcastic one, and not a humorous one. Go figure. I say that she is full of it……
broad beverly bambi a nimby, perhaps? lol. that’s all too common as well: “now that I’m in, nobody else in MY backyard; drawbridge up, close the pod door, hal…”.
and people “vote” for these people, many of whom probably DO become sexually excited at the prospect bev inadvertently let dribble down her chin.
if these conmen politicians, who have been continuously pumping a bill of goods your whole life, and the whole lives of your relatives going back generations, now pull the stunt rr writes about, the result will be that the boobs want it even more.
you had better examine your motivations, and those of people generally. this dynamic, this inculcated preference for surreality over reality, is the root of all the trouble.
“there are thousands hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root.” for more good stuff from Thoreau, see strike the root dot com slash quotes.
Hmmm…
Maybe we oughta lay in a few more cases of canned goods. Sooner or later enough ‘good ole boys’ are going to have had enough of all this nonsense eminating from within the beltway and start doing something about it. What form that takes is beyond my ability to predict. Perhaps some of you nice folks can flesh out some possible scenarios.
Reply to Bryan:
An AK-47, a can of pork-n-beans and a bomb-shelter ain’t gonna solve this problem, partner. That’s just the kind of mentality that some in the government are hoping and wishing for, so don’t take the bait.
Every time I hear or read talk like yours, I respond by advising that individuals keep their guns safely in their holster.
Prepare for the worst, yes, but do something to try and stop the worst from becoming reality.
Now is the time to shoot torpedoes of truth and explode the specious wall of government propaganda. Help tear down that wall of ignorance which holds people captive. People aren’t stupid, just ignorant. Ignorance is public enemy # 1.
Now is the time to save lives through education.
Spread the word: Drive people to this site and others that tell the truth and allow the truth to be told. Encourage people to join the NRA and GOA.
And if you’re part of the governmental system of lies and spies, then I have a special message for you: It’s not too late to reassess your life and the life of those whom you love: Do you really want to live in a world where the government owns the people? Do you want your kids to grow up in frumentarii-police-state? Do you want to live in amerika or America?
It’s not too late to have a change of heart. Today is a good day to join the side which supports freedom.
hal…the con-stitution is not a contract. if it ever was, it bound the original signatories only. documents that are purported to bind everyone in a geographic area, including perpetual posterity, whether agreed to, or not, signed, or not, are mystical in nature, hence con hyphen stitution…..
real contracts, too, depend on recognition of strong property rights. that topsoil eroded away, too (well, it was carted away….).
piggy screamed, “i got the conch!” (screams are all caps). ever watch/read “lord of the flies”? art’s imitation of life can help the medicine go down, so i highly recommend it……
How are the Leftists going to be “blown out of office,” given that they have the head start of having New York and California in the bag? I’m betting the other way, I say this man will be re-elected.
the left talons are connected to the – right talons; the left wing is connected to the – right wing…you know the song.
and the “blow” that lifts that wing, why that’s you and all the other voters.
and while you remain mesmerized by the left side of the wing, the single beak is rending and devouring your guts….
I can’t believe how I concur with 99.999% of what you say/write Robert. Our “charlatan” and “El Presidente O’Broma” (translates into ‘joke’ in Spanish)is a dangerous and perilous individual, in my humble opinion. Thank Geezus that he was elected though, as he has irritated and scared/awakened us, soooooo much so, that we are actually rebelling with the help of level-headed/common sense men like yourself writing about he and his wayward flock. I really appreciate your website and look forward to each and everyone of your “SANITY” articles. I live in Aspen, Colorado where even some of our liberal majority are getting shown the door on so many fronts. Very much liked your article on the older lady/Mom and we must ‘listen listen listen’ and care for the good ones.
All my best to you and keep expounding with your positive energy!!!
Wily
