Splitting the U.S. in Half
Every year or two, progressive New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg actually says something I agree with, like when he recently warned that there could be riots in the streets of America if the economy doesn’t improve. On his weekly radio show, Bloomberg said that a lack of jobs is causing people to become desperate. “The damage to a generation that can’t find jobs,” explained Bloomberg, “will go on for many, many years.”
But Bloomberg and I parted ways when he praised Barack Obama for offering a proposal to create jobs and improve the economy. “At least he’s got some ideas on the table, whether you like those or not,” he said. “Now everybody’s got to sit down and say we’re actually gonna do something, and you have to do something on both the revenue and the expense side.”
None other than debonair Michael Moore echoed Bloomberg’s sentiments with his recent Occupy Wall Street protest. In an interview with never-say-die wannabe journalist Keith Olbermann, Moore said, “… the smart rich know they can only build the gates so high, and sooner or later history proves that people, when they’ve had enough, they aren’t going to take it anymore, and much better to deal with it nonviolently now through the political system than what could possibly happen in the future, which nobody wants to see.”
Moore is right in the first part of his run-on sentence, but wrong in the last part. Those who long for a left-wing dictatorship do want to see a violent revolution. Why do you think they keep encouraging worker uprisings — out of boredom? Violent uprisings are an excuse for government to implement a state of emergency and suspend habeas corpus.
The truth, of course, is that the U.S., like Europe, is socially and economically beyond repair. Yet, the answer from the left is always the same — take more money from small businesses and working people and redistribute it to handpicked corporations, special-interest groups, and government employees and bureaucrats.
The problem is that there soon will be no wealth to redistribute. Sure, progressive politicians can keep the redistribution vote-buying scam going for awhile longer, but, ultimately, a Greek ending is unavoidable. And when that happens, rioting in the U.S. will be much more violent than in Greece, because people have gotten used to a considerably higher standard of living than working people in Greece and the rest of Europe.
Now, here’s where it gets complicated. While the left continues to rev up its class-warfare strategy, there are tens of millions of Americans — primarily libertarians and conservatives — who want the government to butt out. Specifically, they want to drastically cut back on government’s usurped powers to regulate, tax, redistribute wealth, and interfere in the economy and people’s lives.
This is what the tea-party movement is all about, and early on it became such a threat to the aspirations of those in the big-government crowd that they began belittling it as a hate-mongering fringe movement. Thus far, however, it hasn’t worked.
In fact, it has backfired, even though those on the left still refuse to believe the movement is for real. They can’t accept the fact that ever since the tea party came on the political scene, the freedom revolution has been competing with, and beating, the more-free-stuff revolution that lefties like the Michaels — Bloomberg and Moore — have been warning us about.
I saw this coming more than thirty years ago when I first wrote about the possibility that the U.S. might ultimately fracture into many pieces — perhaps as a result of states seceding from the union, which they have a natural right to do. But the philosophies of the two sides are now so irreconcilable that a more peaceful solution might be for them to just split the country in half and agree to part ways.
Those who believe in big government could take one half of the country and regulate, tax, and redistribute wealth to their heart’s content. Within a few short years, of course, it would become a U.S. version of North Korea, devoid of civil liberties and mired in poverty, but … hey … we all get the government we deserve.
After giving the left first choice, conservatives and libertarians could then take the other half of the country — any half would be just fine — and implement a free-market economy that would be as close to laissez-faire capitalism as possible. In a short period of time, it would become a U.S. version of South Korea (or the U.S. itself in the days of yore), with explosive wealth creation and maximum freedom for its citizens.
Failing a peaceful split, it is difficult for me to see how a second civil war in the United States can be avoided, unless the left is successful in getting a large majority of the sleepwalking masses to buy into the notion that socialism is the most humane and just system known to man. In such a boil-the-frog-slowly scenario, the voices of the tea-party movement might then fade into the background over time and be relegated to a historical footnote.
Mark Steyn sums up where the United States is at this point in time in his great new book After America: Get Ready for Armageddon:
Even as America’s spendaholic government outspends not only America’s ability to pay for it but, by some measures, the world’s, even as it follows Britain into the dank pit of transgenerational dependency, a failed education system and unsustainable entitlements, even as it makes less and less and mortgages its future to its rivals for cheap Chinese trinkets, most Americans assume that simply because they’re American they’re insulated from consequences.
In paraphrasing the words of Cecil Rhodes and Bernard Shaw, Steyn continues:
In our time, to be born a citizen of the United States is to win first prize in the lottery of life, and, as Britons did, too many Americans assume it will always be so. Do you think the laws of God will be suspended in favor of America because you were born in it?
What Steyn is saying is that Americans are victims of the normalcy bias, a state of mind that stops people from taking seriously the possibility of a crisis that is outside their normal, day-to-day experience. My fellow Americans, it’s time to wake up. James Dean, The Platters, Mickey Mantle, and the post-World War II baby boom are gone.
The problem, however, is that while the boom is gone, the boomers are not. They are retiring en masse, and they expect — nay, demand — that the artificial prosperity of their spoiled childhoods continue.
I say split the country in half and let the demanders argue about it with their left-wing dictatorship. As for me, I look forward to trading with you on a strictly voluntary basis in the free-market half of the country.

Mr. Ringer, I do hope Texas is in the “right” side of the country. . .if so, I’ll meet you sometime and shake your hand.
“My fellow Americans, it’s time to wake up. James Dean, The Platters, Mickey Mantle, and the post-World War II baby boom are gone.”
Yes. I agree, time for you old geezers to get real:
“And the three men I admire most:
The father, son, and the holy ghost,
They caught the last train for the coast,
The day the music died.”…..Don McLean – American Pie lyrics(1971).
The era of old fashioned baseball, hot dogs, rock & roll, apple pie, church bells on Sunday and Chevrolet muscle cars is over. In 1963 the cost of tuition to attend Harvard University was $1,520 per year. That’s over, too.
It’s over. Finished. Done. That world is gone. You live in amerika now, serf!
Split amerika into another new country? Yes, Hmmm… Let’s see, what would we call the newly formed nation?? Well, should we name our new country after a great religious figure in order to evoke a patriotic form of religionationalism (religious based nationalism) and ethnonationalism? Perhaps. How about naming our new country after the patriarch Israel?!? Opps, my bad. Sorry, that name has already been taken in 1948.
OK, no problem, we can call our new nation Jesus Christ! Now that’s a name which has a nice powerful ring to it, don’t you think?!? A real attention getter!!! And Rick Perry could be our very first Minister-in-Chief!
Wait! No! No, you say? Too controversial, you say? Yes, you’re right: a name like that might polarize too many people. Right, I see! The other half of amerika might get ideas and name its new country, Allah.
Yes indeed, you’re right and I’m wrong: renaming amerika, Jesus Christ, is a bad idea. Besides, that phony Rick Perry is finally getting exposed for the hypocrite that he is. Nobody with half a brain would want him for President……….
I dearly hope that if we do split amerika into two separate nations that we can demonstrate that we’ve learned from past mistakes by setting a good example, e.g. at least getting our new country’s name right.
By the way, if it’s OK with you, then I want to move to the half of amerika that doesn’t have to subsidize Israel with foreign aid (pay-offs)like the EU subsidizes Greece.
Psssst, the other half of amerika can have the U.N., too. I only want a small military and enough nukes to give anybody a face full of plutonium who dares attempt an invasion.
I have been saying that America is irreparably fractured and the only way to avoid violence is to partition the USA. I know it sounds like a drastic solution, but those who believe in a free market economy and conservative principles cannot reconcile itself to socialist or communism. One of these philosophies will enslave itself to the other. It is time to face reality; we cannot coexist with those adhere to communism and the war will continue until violence raises its ugly head.
The danger to America is not a left-wing dictatorship but a RIGHT-WING dictatorship. This would be just as bad,if not worse, than communism. Tyranny is bad whether it’s tyranny of the left or right-wing kind.
Ruthless right-wing extremist demagofues such as Sarah Palin,Rick Perry,Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum are telling gullible conservatives everything they want to hear, using such conservative buzz words as “smaller government”,”limited government”, “lowering taxes”,
“restoring morality to America”, “protecting” the unborn(not AFTER they’re born though !), preserving “religious freedom”, (as if it had been lost in the first place), “family values”,”traditional” values),
“Protecting” marriage(as if it needed protection),”standing up to he gay agenda”) (just a code word for persecuting homosexuals),and all that garbage.
But the reality of what they would create if they got the power they want is not so pretty !
In fact, if you think Obama is bad, any of these as President would make our current problems look like a picnic !
This conversation is not about a social agenda. It is about a free market economy and conservative fiscal principles. Indeed, there are many false prophets out there, but I haven’t seen a single one that compares to our present administration. That being said, there is one many out there that has my support. His name is Ron Paul.
WOW! Total Moron… I hear there is an opening for Head Moron In Training at Salon.com. I bet you could qualify hands down!
Wow….Reality Seeker! Nothing like intelligent commentary. Ringer is talking about a free market economy devoid from entitlement and wealth re-distribution and you are talking about….what the hell are you talking about?!# Hey, as long as you are on the other half…I’m good:)
BTW Robert, I am in total agreement with your article. I believe there is truly no other way to resolve our issues than to split the country. I can’t see why anyone would not be in total agreement. Heck, the country was specifically designed with “States” to afford the opportunity to experiment with government. This could be the greatest experiment in history. A true side by side experiment.
Sorry Larry, you’re late to the party.
My commentary blends back into some earlier discussions regarding the formation of a new country .i.e. Israel.
Ignore my post, because it’s over your head.
@Reality Seeker
“Ignore my post.” … Finally, your most salient statement I’ve read yet !!! – and certainly one with which it’s MOST easy to comply!
@Reality Seeker:
You obviously don’t get it. Hint: It takes some intelligence and imagination to “get” it. Ringer doesn’t expect an intelligent reader to start picketing his State government to secede. But it is a rather delicious thought.
The big problem is that most of the States are nearly as leftist and statist as the Feds are.
It’s true that the Feds would have all the money, but they would also have most of the debt, which they can never pay.
Jas2,
That’s funny, because here in Texas, Gov. Ricky Perry used to talk about seceding from the Federal Union all the time. Part of me thinks it’s a good idea.
Split this country into two because of a bunch of left-wing progressives who aren’t that smart and haven’t had an original thought that didn’t derive from Marx and Lenin and their buddies in the last 100 years? Don’t think so. That will happen over my dead body and a lot of others who want this country back and working to fulfill the dreams of the average person.
Progressive aren’t the only ones who can communicate with the people and organize. Those who built this country and are descendents of a lot of resolute ancestors won’t find the far left liberals and progressives that tough to beat. Never underestimate us – we’re better educated, more experienced, more original, and a lot more stubborn. And our ideas are better.
The progressive types expect Americans to lie down and let the left walk over them. Well, that isn’t going to happen. Progressives and the left have no workable ideas except to take power for the elite- themselves- to hoard and use to control the great unwashed, whom they like to manipulate but don’t want to associate with or have around. So here’s to the other struggle, folks. Let the games begin. We’ll win because we’re on the side of freedom and opportunity and exceptionalism and Everyman. You aren’t.
Keep giving a man a fish to eat, and you’ll control him forever; teach a man to fish, and he’ll be free to catch his own fish and a lot more fish and teach his children how to fish as well. And he’ll want to keep on fishing in freedom.
< exceptionalism and Everyman
bell curve is real (middle is more pregnant than would be in a free world, but nonetheless…); pareto is real. there is a statistical impossibility in your formula.
Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want and deserve to get it good and hard.
H. L. Mencken
I wonder…would the new country be just another “prison,” and you and me, just another number?
For me, any new consitution would have to be a contract of adhesion, i.e., unilateral, unequivocal burden placed on government and not the individual. The liberty guarantees would have to be iron-clad and carry severe penalties for individuals (not government per se) for violations of individual liberty. All taxes would be required to be voluntary, consumptive and temporary…all taxes. Officials would not be elected, rather chosen by lottery and they would serve much like jury duty. The State Department would be very small with little power. The military would resemble that of Switzerland’s…you get the picture.
yup…check out lysander spooner’s “no treason”. guy was a world-shaker. went into competition (tried) with the post office, lol…..

< would have to be iron-clad and carry severe penalties for individuals (not government per se) for violations of individual liberty.
i like mencken's rx:
"In other words, I propose that it shall be no longer malum in se for a citizen to pummel, cowhide, kick, gouge, cut, wound, bruise, maim, burn, club, bastinado, flay, or even lynch a jobholder, and that it shall be malum prohibitum only to the extent that the punishment exceeds the jobholder’s deserts."

I love your highly educational work, reunion……pity it’s so far behind/ahead of its time.
in fact, reunion, you’re an anachronism, a ghost, an obsolescent, a bug, yes, you’re a modern-day Mr. Wordsworth, and the new police-state has no use for your kind………

lol…was that the one where he (burgess meredith) ends up locked in a vault filled with books? br’er rabbit, in that case….
i was not always an anachronism…anybody who wants to know, can….(rr’s books were part of coming to know – back in the late 70′s?, early 80′s…)
thx, rs……
“obsolescent”…makes me think of nock’s “memoirs of a superfluous man”. good book.
In the new country to which I eluded earlier, it would be difficult indeed for power to gain a foothold; chosen by lottery to serve, temporarily, without vesting. Just as a jury does not control the courtroom (escept in the concept of jury nullification) the bureaucrat would nary control the individual. I think “communication” would be much better. The new compact would bind government officials so tightly that mere movement would be uncomfortable. Any new initiatives would be effected only after meeting the stringent test of compliance with individual liberty. Is it perfect? Of course not. Would anarchy be more perfect?
Europe was split in two parts, not so long ago.
The eastern part communist, and the western part with more freedom.
When I look at Europe now, and I live in Europe, the majority of the people in the former western part didn’t learn anything from that.
So I doubt that splitting the US will improve anything.
europe….well, socialist and communist (hard socialist); fraternal twins, both retarded (learning disabled)……
Excellent idea, but unfortunately I am not sure it is possible without a violent revolution. I know some would argue that certain states (Texas) are ripe to be part of such a plan, but there are statists and leftists in EVERY state so such a break up wouldn’t be so clean as this state goes to that side and that state goes to our side, etc.
It would involve all who believe one way staking a claim to some land and resources and those who believe another staking their claim. Naturally they won’t agree and war will have to break out. It would be messy, but I think still necessary as we simply can’t reconcile our views with their views. The two forms of government are completely incompatible and the only compromise is one that moves us closer to statism not freedom.
and slippery slope oligarchy (oleo-garchy?), whether left, center, or right, is incompatible with liberty, which is to say anarchy….
Cute idea, but it’ll never happen. At least not the way proposed. America will not be divided again leaving any piece in “free” territory within the lifetimes of the grandchildren of any living soul. If the country falls apart, Soviet Union style, the pieces will be semi-socialist at best to authoritarian at worst.
Remember, we can only work with what we have, and the Libtards have left us with an incredibly ignorant populace who will need to be slowly educated. Civilization took hundreds of years for Libertarians to take the veneer as an intrinsic, unalterable set of facts about human behavior. It will only take three days without food and electricity for the unwashed and unprepared to melt down to their baser instincts.
After three months, we’ll be beyond discussing “humane” cannibalism, and we will struggling unsuccessfully to explain to our fellow cattle that Gulags, and concentration camps, and guillotines were invented by the Left.
At that point, the only question will be if Mayor Bloomberg gets a perch in a national-socialist style dystopia, or will he have to yield to the international-socialists and escape to Brazil.
…
< …Libertarians to take the veneer as an intrinsic, unalterable set of facts about human behavior.
the stuff the founders are are lauded for writing (as opposed living), classical liberal, is libertarian. that all that was a con, an easy, preaching to the choir con, that was relentlessly subverted from day one, & then bled out (so-called civil war) is why the subjugated population is so unfit now.
your attempted distillation of libertarianism is dishonest.
dear robert:
a political split of the usa into separate countries?! as someone near your age i don’t think it will happen in our lifetime…but this country is very divided as you say
politically that will reach a breaking point…a quiet groundswell of migration is occuring though…already…
some states resemble a people’s republic..socialism..nanny state…save the whales and trees..high taxes…redistribute wealth to the lazy…gay marriage… place certain ethnic minorities and genders on an altar..persecute and denigrate the caucasian race..wasps and men…and
tap on the wrist dangerous criminals..etc etc..
while others have sacred cows to preserve the private sector..states rights..promote employment…capitalism..lower taxes… promote
values consistent with the Bible…and(if washington will let them) promote equal opportunity in jobs, education, employment…tough on serious crime..death penalty for certain crimes..actually allow some oil drilling…etc etc..
many years ago i left a ‘people’s republic’ state…to avoid the afflictions of the democratic party which at that time annoyed me greatly..at that time the ‘outrages’ piled up to the point that i left for good with no desire to return EVER….whew! since then to my amazement
they legalized gay marriage and have moved even further to the left! as cynical as i was i never imagined gay marriage would happen EVEN THERE! or the magnitude of the wall street bailout…! or 9/11!the demographics here are interesting…gore was the first nominee in us history to win california and new york and yet lose the election….
john kerry a few years later was the second…the implication here is that coservatives have been fleeing california..ny..and other people’s republics…
the alternative to a split into different countries could be to promote and expand states rights successfully……one thing for sure..if washington dc is successful in nationalizing the democratic party agenda..and FORCE their agenda of e.g. gay marriage
or other unknown nutty left wing ‘progressive’ideas on places like texas THERE WILL BE TROUBLE!
I think Oklahoma has the capacity of being a state which would be willing to secede and form a militia.
O my yes, those eeeevil Palins and Bachmans and Perrys, they might actually do something crazy, like, like…following the Constitution! Actually limiting the Fed gov’t to the bounds to which it was intended! Actually acknowledging that the Constitution doesn’t force every state to allow a mother to have her unborn child killed without meaningful restriction up until the moment he’s born!
If we don’t actually get some serious reduction in the regulatory burden caused by the massively unConstitutional Fed bureacrazies, then the Republic is doomed. About the only hope would be if some state, e.g. Texas, were to ‘functionally’ secede: i.e., pass laws that declared that all unConstitutional regs were unenforceable in the state. Dare OSHA or EPA to try to, and put’em in the slammer if they do. Once upon a time Massachusetts, Minnesota, Indiana, and Illinois had the guts to do Antietam. Nowadays? Not so much…
Sorry, but Rick Perry isn’t one of us. He would force everyone to submit to Establishment Medicine and shut down alternatives (which is what I use). He stages fake religious events planned with the help of cult leaders. He doesn’t believe in protecting us from the violence of folks from Mexico (can you say “terrorist” slipping into the country with his open borders?). He wants to turn the schools into islamic madrassahs. So please don’t include him with Bachmann and Palin. They are TOTALLY DIFFERENT in outlook. Perry is a one-worlder RINO.
I say we split the country into two parts – the left wing lunatics and other Democrats can live in New Jersey… and the rest of us get the rest!
Problem solved!
I wonder if “Robert Berger” is taking something for his derangement?
PS: The next “right-wing dictatorship” will be Human History’s first ever. So far every totalitarian has been a Leftard! :.
What is the difference between a Leftist windbag and a hot air balloon?
Answer: The hot air balloon will take you for a better ride.
yeah, and it takes only a small (bon)fire to fill up a hot air balloon….i think you mean a rightist windbag is a better ride…but a balloon is a balloon…*pop*
I see a lot of “enticement” type comments, here. With the agenda being the hope that some “Right wing jerks” will make threats of some kind.
Why don’t you puking enticement, agitating moles give it a rest? Oh, right, you get paid at the public trough for your cushy little sniveling job.
put some examples in quotes, and then demolish the “agenda”…let’s see what’s combustible, what isn’t…..
the BIG fundamental flaw I see with dividing the USA into 2 parts, left wing, right wing, is this:most all liberals would be thrilled that there would be a utopian place where all needs were determined by, and met thru, the goverment. None of them, however, except the very ignorant, would actually choose to live there. Even the most hardcore liberals are smart enough to know that the nannystate would fail in about 6 months without somebody to suck the blood out of (conservatives, everyday working americans.)
So true! I have many many friends who act and seem conservative in lifestyle, who pay zero attn to current events, who voted for the President because they thought it was lovely. These folks want to be kind and neutral and now I know what to call their “disorder” – normalcy bias. Thank you Sir!
p.s. I love my liberal friends. I think one of the best remedies to our situations is for people in their individual communities to meet one another and attend their own town council mtgs! No one but the busy body do gooder types does. We all let ‘others’ run things. It is our own fault for being detached, ok not all of us! God Bless us all.
I’ve said for a long time that the break up of the USA is coming, most likely sometime between 2020 and 2030. I think we will see 8 to 11 new nations. I expect Texas, Alaska, Hawaii and California to go their own way. Oregon and Washington state to merge as well as Arizona and New Mexico. The southern states, the northeast and the central western states will have their own new countries and the midwest could split into two or more states.
Oregon would have to split east and west of the Cascades. I’ll stay on the east side!
Great Idea, but it would never work, seriously. NO, and i mean NO…. lame ass, liberal, entitilment taking, welfare living, union backing, tree hugging, PBS watching, NPR listening, anti war rallying, homo loving, rich guy hating, democrat POS,…………….. would EVER agree to live with just thier own kind…………who would PAY FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!! (YOU KNOW, THEIR “FAIR” SHARE)……. That society would rip itself apart literally!!!! and people would be climbing the fence, and killing people, to get to the other side……..
The problem is, getting a group (more than 3) to agree fully to anything. The chances of that are piss-poor-to-unbelievable. Someone, sooner or later, wants to be “in charge” and that throws off the whole equality idea. It’ll never happen or, if it does, it won’t last. A few years down the road, there will be the more conservative faction and the less conservative faction and the bull-stuff begins all over again.
I think y’all have lost sight of the fact that we each can create our own little “Galt’s Gulch” right here in the good ol’ US of A. It’s not really that hard to become and remain almost totally transparent. The illegal Mexicans have been doing it for decades. I know I’m smarter than they are and if they can do it so can I.
So, that’s my plan and that’s all I’m sayin’ ’bout it. You’ll still see me and hear from me, you just won’t know anything much about me or exactly where I am. Just keep an eye out over your shoulder.
Strange. Divide and conquer. Exactly what a Globalist would want. Split America apart. No thanks.
already been done. but the sequence was “unite” (remember the scene from braveheart? “unites us! unite the clans!) – betrayal – invasion/conquering – division (democracy).
prior to this culminated strategy, the states were sovereign…and prior to that, for a brief period (and more so in some regions than others – william penn went broke trying to collar, herd ‘subjects’ that unexpectedly turned out to be free people with ideas of their own), individuals were sovereign.
That’s fine as long as you put Arizona in the free half. I can’t move. I don’t want to be stuck with the enslaved half. See the problem? I have a better idea. Each person decides what form of government he wants. With modern computers, this becomes possible. A checkbox on your tax return indicates which group you want to belong to. You don’t pay taxes for unconstitutional spending, and you don’t get the benefits. We live all mixed in together, and it is illegal to reveal which choice you made to your neighbors. Public advocacy for one system or the other will remain legal as per the First Amendment.
Many of us paid exorbitant amounts of money in FICA. We want our money back. We are really entitled to get it back. It’s not welfare. It should be a separate category. The enslaved half can fund it. After all, they stole the money from the trust fund in the first place.
is there a checkbox for self-gov (anarchy) in your conception?
as for what you deserve to get returned, all who have property stolen deserve trespass to be righted. sometimes it’s possible to make a criminal pay restitution, if the criminal is apprehended. unfortunately, you played along with a criminal organization’s (dynastic gangsters) ponzi scheme, and the kiting went on so long and the amount of $ stolen became so astronomical that restitution is not possible (for any of us).
bernie madoff’s clients (and co-conspirators…you can’t cheat an honest man), would like their $ back, too. not going to happen.
possibility that the U.S. might ultimately fracture into many pieces — perhaps as a result of states seceding from the union, which they have a natural right to do.
Robert wasn’t there a pecedent set a few years ago about States right to secede? 600,000 American dead to keep that from happening. Thousands more dead in our War for Independence and all the other wars American’s have fought in for this Nations Freedom and against tyranny worldwide and you can flippantly say with a straight face, States have the right to secede? Bullshit, please re-read the Gettysburg Address.
American Union, “the last best hope for earth”(Lincoln).
Tom –
It’s amazing that you would choose the Gettysburg address over the Declaration of Independence. And are you saying that because thousands died in the American Revolution, the colonists were wrong to fight for their freedom. I don’t get it.
RJR
I mean to apply the precedent of no seceding from the contract between the states. There was a great cost in lives and blood to free us from a tyrant and a greater cost in maintaining the Union that the original blood was splilled in the Revolution.
I used the term bullshit just to amplify how I felt without trying to make a long argument in that I would sound pretty ignorant (if I don’t already):)
I am just fresh finishing a Lincoln biography on a selection of his writings and another from an Englishman’s perspective…………….
well documented that the wonderful man Lincoln even crossed the Constitution in the civil war. States certainly can succeed, why even Vermont has proposed it! And they’re infamously liberal. Liberal and loveable! I’m trying to stay positive.
It is a matter of electing the right people to Washington in November 2012. I am amazed that the Democrats haven’t challenged Obama for the nomination. God knows many of them must realize the menace this man represents to the Republic. I think that may still happen. I figure they have one more month to do it after which it will be too late.
The central government has grown too big and too fast and is strangling economic growth with far too many regulations. All Governments are intrinsically evil and must always be restrained and when necessary overthrown.
“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”
Edward Abbey
If there ever was a time when we needed a strong leader, it is now. I am not sure one will emerge with the courage to do what is necessary which is to strip the central government of much of its authority. The Cabinet could easily be cut in half. The Governors have a responsibility as well and secession may prove to be the only solution. They have enormous Constitutional powers and must be prepared to wield them.
I have been saying that the country needs to be divided for many years. Simply because there are TOO MANY PEOPLE to have one set of rules.
Why should someone else decide for me:
Which plant I can smoke and which I can’t
Which mushroom I can eat and which I can’t
Where I can hunt and where I can’t?
Where I can fish and where I can’t?
What I can grow and what I can’t?
Who I can marry and who I can’t?
Where I can pee and where I can’t?
Etc….
The only alternative I see is to have a place in each state and/or county called, NO MAN’S LAND. Where you can enter and the laws (except for crimes against another person) are suspended. You can drink, eat, smoke, sell, buy, etc.. what you want. In other words, TRUE FREEDOM!
WAKE UP AMERICA AND SMELL THE HYPOCRISY!!
Avery if you want freedom to go to a no man’s land, you better get on your county commission because if A21 comes to your area the land trusts and organic farm not for profits will buy up all the unused land, even the little strips between highways (greenways) and you will not be allowed on them eventually. Well that is the goal of A21. See if we were all sound we could fight this but the econ in toilette, the greenies will find a salamander that is threatened and corner off people’s property or water ways, God literally only knows. So pls consider getting active in your community and spread the info so people will be thinking, speaking out and protecting rights they have left.
To succeed is easy to talk about, the biggest issue is getting the military commanders to buy in. There are multiple large military bases throughout Texas alone. The buy in by the base commanders would have to be complete and immutable. I think it is possible, but it would take remarkable negotiation. Also the immediate setup of border security and entry points with ‘papers’ etc. Sounds good, but the implementation would be difficult at best.
Divide the country in half??That is a STUPID idea! Didn’t we have a civil war once to prevent the break-up of our Union? United we stand, divided we FALL!The only reason the Korean situation works is because America is protecting South Korea.Who would protect a DIVIDED America from our foriegn enemies? This CURE is Worse then the disease.MUCH worse. With Solutions like that no wonder we’re not taken seriously.Sort of like Ron Paul. Some great ideas mixed in with a bunch of nutty ones.
You’re so right. We have to simply spread sunshine, be grounded and get off the sofa! Well I do anyway. We’re all blogging our brains out, but do we attend our town council mtgs? No. This is why A21 has creeped in, the busy body, over educated do-gooder controller types have been busy on the local level for a looooong time. We have a lot of catching up to do. Plus they’ve had our ears and our childrens’ ears in our schools and until last 10 yrs the media at their back. Main thing is to follow the constitution, even tho the left is effectively reinterpreting it. They are masters at revision. Oh so the normalcy bias, I fall back into and sleep well. I wish things were more stable.
Suspend habeas corpus? Why would we need to do that? After all there are only a few billion laws on the books surly we could find something….. That is why it is so dangerous to speak out and do something about the problems we are facing that’s why people like Robert Ringer and myself (theemissary.us) are so hard to find, the government doesn’t need to take you to jail for nothing, a little snooping and they’ll have plenty to book you on, and if not at least they can let you graciously support their effort, signed your car registration yet, 135$ fine you know, Oh! didn’t you? I’m sorry ignorance of our millions of laws is no excuse.
We could even give the left the best real estate and leave us the wasteland. Ours would still flourish and theirs would still rot.
