Glenn Beck’s Departure from Fox News, Part I
By Robert Ringer
On rare occasions, a unique figure bursts onto the national stage and has a dramatic impact on politics, culture, or both. Glenn Beck is one of those figures. He is surely the biggest, fastest, most controversial star in the political commentary business in my lifetime.
Beck is a real-life version of Howard Beale, the fictional television commentator in the 1976 film classic Network. Beale whipped his cultish TV audience into a frenzy, exhorting them to stick their heads out the window and chant, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!”
Much to the chagrin of the oligarchy in Washington, however, Glenn Beck is not a fictional character. He’s real, and he has succeeded in enlightening his audience far beyond Beale’s simple rants about the unfairness of life. Beck is much more knowledgeable, much more factual, much more rational, and much more focused on the key issue: America’s loss of liberty.
I find it more than just a bit ironic that ultra-liberal CNN Headline News gave Beck his first forum on television. There, he created a huge stir with his “rodeo-clown” antics and his willingness to talk openly about his drug- and alcohol-addicted past. But as he increasingly added his political views to the mix, people started asking, “Why isn’t this guy on Fox News?”
Of course, Roger Ailes was closely observing Beck all along, and, in January 2009, he brought him to Fox and fit him into the 5:00 p.m. time slot. While Beck had been moving more and more toward political commentary at CNN Headline News, from the moment he came to Fox his transition to near-total politics was swift.
Combining his incredible talents with the work of his equally incredible research staff, Beck became a household name seemingly overnight. In truth, of course, he had been in media for thirty years, but he had never before had a forum like Fox News.
Beck’s show is so good I’m convinced that if a person doesn’t watch it on a regular basis, it’s almost impossible for him to understand the true causes of the moral and economic collapse of the United States – or even that it is collapsing – because no one else on TV covers most of the stories he dissects in impeccable detail. His modus operandi has been to expose the bad guys through their own words by playing audios and videos of them shooting off their mouths and by quoting their writings.
For quite some time now, I have believed that Beck has become so good at exposing the truth, so well respected, and so powerful that the Forces of Darkness in the White House and Congress view him as a major threat to their aspirations to eliminate the Constitution, the rule of law, and individual sovereignty in the United States. (In fact, they now refer to him as “the Beck problem.”)
But, as I have written in the past, the Obamafia is in a no-win situation with Beck. If its leaders ignore him, he will continue to disrobe Chairman Obama and his malevolent progressive pals through their own spoken and written words.
On the other hand, as they have already discovered, the more they try to discredit Beck, the more attention they draw to him – and the more people will learn about the details of how they plan to fundamentally transform America. Worse, their childish mudslinging is no match for Beck’s sixty minutes of hard-core truth five days a week (not to mention his three-hour daily radio show).
So Beck keeps raising the ante, and there is no question in my mind that the oligarchy in Washington sees him as a major obstacle between where they are today and their ultimate goal: a firmly entrenched, all-powerful federal government that controls every aspect of people’s lives.
Listening to Beck this past year has convinced me that he senses he has been chosen by a Higher Power to lead the charge against the evildoers in government. If so, it’s not the first time God has surprised the world with his choice of a messenger.
In laying down the gauntlet, Beck has pointed out that as a recovering alcoholic, he’s already been at the bottom, so nothing scares him. “The worst thing that can happen in my life,” Beck has said, “is to lose my honor and to return to my Heavenly Father without honor - without doing what I was supposed to do.” When people talk like this, it represents a very big problem for those in power.
Beck has made it clear that he is not afraid of losing everything if that’s what it takes to convey the truth to as many people as possible. And, as the far left knows all too well, a man who is willing to lose everything can be a huge obstacle to its achieving its socialist objectives.
The willingness to lose everything is, in fact, a key to being a successful revolutionary, or, in Beck’s case, a counter-revolutionary. How many people do you know who are prepared to lose everything to fight for what they believe in?
Not long ago, Beck came right out and said, “I’m going out swinging.” That statement carried with it some very strong implications. Clearly, something has to give.
My best guess? I hope I’m wrong, but I have long had the feeling that Glenn Beck will be leaving Fox News other than through old-age retirement.
How might his departure come about? The way I see it, there are four possible avenues of exit, which I will discuss in detail in Part II of this article.

My first thought when I read this was – OMG I hope you aren’t right.
Unfortunately, you probably are.
The presuppositions telegraphed in Mr. Beck’s language may be very telling.
As always, your insights are profound.
I hope you’re wrong on this one. I’ll wait till I hear your four possiblities.
Glenn Beck has given me more insight on our history and the reason for our rotten state of affairs than all my years of high school and college. I believe that one of the reason’s for our decades of complacency is that life in our society just seemed too confusing, getting involved was too complicated. Now I realize that this was the progessive agenda all along, to muddy the waters with charges of racisim and altruism to coddle us into submission.
Glenn Beck has only been on TV for a little over a year and look how galvanized we have become. Tea Parties in every town, elections now throwing out entrenched progressives of both parties, Rand Paul actually getting a win!!!
Could it be that his work is now done and the rest is up to us???
As a loyal “Beckie” and a Viet Nam Marine vet I am concerned for our country. As a student of history, I kknow that names and dates are not the story. There has always been a person to arise and stand against the onslaught of evil. Should Mr. Beck loose his forum, or worse his ability to inspire, another will take his place. And another. And another. I pray that the podium still exists to get the word out. There are enough of us that this counrty will never be perminantly “Transformed”
He is waking up many people and really is seen as a threat to the Socialists and Communists in the White House.
He woke me up too… Now I see how FDR prolonged the “Great Depression” and then hear BO talking about how great the New Deal was. We ARE in trouble.
Then there was Wilson…I knew he was evil. Now I know he was even MORE evil than I thought!
Seriously…I fear for Glenn’s life.
If Mr. Glenn Beck ever departs Fox News, it will be because he wants to become an alpha male instead of a female clown; it will be because Mr. Beck wants to become a hard-core truth teller and as controversial as somebody like Mr. Alex Jones.
Mr. Beck cannot fully expose the corporate media corruption and all the media shills like Mr. Jones can, simply because Mr. Beck works for one of the biggest oligarchs in the world; namely, Rupert Murdoch. And let’s not forget the very sly Roger Eugene Ailes whose criminal record on deceiving the public dates all the way back to President Richard Nixon.
And let’s not forget—god! how could we forget— Bill O’reilly and how Mr. Beck rolls over like a submissive female dog in a pathetic display of submission every time he and Mr. O’reilly meet. If Beck ever wants to be the alpha male, then must leave Fox News.
Having said all of the above, I hope Mr. Beck doesn’t leave Fox News inside of a pine box, because I have hope for Mr. Beck that one fine day he will become the man he wants to be—one of the men that America really and truly needs..
I agree with Kenrick – in hoping that you’re wrong. We need Glen Beck – just as we need you.
When I print your column to take to my elderly “news hound” neighbor, I always say “Robert Ringer is very brave to say the things he says.”
One thing I feel is certain – neither of you can be bought off. And that is comforting.
Beck certainly isn’t the first “Howard Beale” There is someone who’s thinking is clearer and more precise. His analysis I have been following for ten years. That would be Alex Jones. Visit:
http://www.infowars.com
http://www.prisonplanet.com
At Infowars.com …. Click on “listen to the Alex Jones show” in the center blue box for a live stream from 11am to 3pm or then it repeats as a 24 hour stream.
Drudge has been posting links to Infowars for sometime now.
Maybe Beck is changing… but I still see him as a corporate shill for the oligarch. His analysis is usually weeks or even years behind the analysis of Jones.
If you truly want to break out of the left/right paradigm… Listen to Infowars. If you disagree with Alex, Unlike other radio talk shows where you get disconnected…. (yep even on Beck’s I have tried it many times) You get moved to the front of the line on the telephone switchboard. He is truely a fearless man who loves the Republic.
If Mr. Beck leaves Fox, it will be a profound blow to that network. I hope you are wrong, but if you are right, I also hope Glenn Beck continues to thrive in radio and the internet even more.
His is a voice that NEEDS to be heard by all freedom loving Americans. (And the Howard Beale analogy is dead on. I had thought that myself while watching his show.)
Have you ever spoken personally with Glenn Beck? If not, then you should.
Unless Glenn Beck decides to give up on television like Bill O’Reilly gave up on radio, I don’t see this happening. As long as his ratings are good, Fox News will let him stay. There is no television station further to the right than Fox News. I was surprised that CNN allowed Glenn Beck to stay on Headline News for as long as they did.
I very much agree with these thoughts. I encourage everyone to pray for the safety of Glenn Beck and his family. And also pray for FOX News to stay the course against the powerful anti-Beck forces. I’ve long thought that Beck has put his life on the line for ALL AMERICANS, and we need to support him in any way we can. WE NEED GLENN BECK TO KEEP US INFORMED!
Dear Mr. Rnger:
I love Glenn Beck, I adore Glenn Beck and all he stands for, and I appreciate the contribution he is making to the consciousness (conscience?) and education of the people of our Nation.
I think the other big thorn in Obama’s hide is Rush Limbaugh. The constant and continual hammering that Rush, as well as Glenn, give to the Phony-In-Chief must be very painful to The Liar In The White House and is the right thing to do. This opponent’s weaknesses and lying duplicitous traits (as well as those of his deluded followers) must be exposed for all to see if there is to be a return to sanity in our Nation’s government. Rush and Glenn are not in this alone; the list of Conservative Talk Show Hosts is quite lengthy and they each and all add the weight of their voices and considered opinions to that of Glenn’s and Rush’s.
On a final note, I’d like to voice my deep respect and admiration for you as well. I have all your books and have read several of them multiple numerous times. Thank YOU for this site and all you do and have done to enlighten us.
Best Regards,
Angel Rivera
I agree with what you have said in this at so many levels. Glenn Beck has been so correct on his predictions of what is to come if things continued. For example, Housing Market and the Stock Market. It is unbelievable the time and hours that he and his staff must spend doing all of his factual research. You are absolutely correct that our President and his staff and the Progressives in office are SCARED TO DEATH of him and the message that he sends and the people who are educated by him and awakened to what is really going on. I pray that he never leaves FOX News. He has such a wonderful outlet and great backing from the Network. I know that there would be no other way for him to reach as many people as he does now. In my opinion, he even outranks Bill O’Reilly when he goes over topics. I Glenn Beck for the job he is doing and the way he handles himself. God Bless our Troops and God Bless Glenn Beck!!! They both are willing to give up everything to fight for this Country and our Freedoms!!!! God Bless America!!!!
This is from Nash Montana on BikerorNot.com at post #262 on Doc Ellis 124 blog line.
Excellent article, Mister Ringer!!! I like it. But that’s because I have been a Glenn Beck fan since 2003, having followed his “education” through 7 years, and seeing the changes he went through, every day, until he became what he is now.
I have not read the part two to this article yet. The exit strategies. I have a feeling it’s not gonna happen though.
Beck said on the radio a few weeks ago, he’ll go down with the mothership. He said that when they’re gonna pull the plug…, he’ll be the last man standing for FOX. I guess Ringer didn’t hear that…, either way, it doesn’t matter.
It appears to me that Beck has a very strong sense of responsibility to FOX because of his viewers. He cares a great deal about what he does. Wanna laugh about this statement? I don’t give a f**k! I have learned more through Glenn Beck than anyone else of all the political *ssw*p*s doing their talking points. Nobody but Beck is so meticulous, methodical, and diligent in what he does. NOBODY!
Has any one warned Fox News to watch who is buying their stock? If some one like Soros gets controlling interest in the Fox News Network…
