2010: The Year of Reckoning, Part I
By Robert Ringer
In a 2008 radio interview, Barack Obama said:
“ … the Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and of more basic issues such as political and economic justice in society. To that extent, as radical as I think people try to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution, at least as its been interpreted and the Warren Court interpreted in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties.”
I tell you, life isn’t fair. Why hasn’t the Supreme Court ever ventured into the matter of “redistributive wealth?” And what in the world were the Founding Fathers thinking about when they failed to broach the subject?
Surely it was an oversight that they never addressed the issue of taking your assets and giving them to your neighbor. Or perhaps it’s just an indication that George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and James Madison were cold, calloused individuals who enjoyed watching people suffer.
In the same interview, Chairman Obama went on to say that the Constitution “[says] what the Federal government can’t do to you, but doesn’t say what the Federal government or State government must do on your behalf, and that hasn’t shifted … and one of the, I think, tragedies of the civil rights movement was … um … because the civil rights movement became so court focused I think there was a tendency to lose track of the political and community organizing and activities on the ground that are able to put together the actual coalition of powers through which you bring about redistributive change.”
Excuse me? Do on your behalf? Those stupid Founding Fathers again. They didn’t even think to put in the Constitution what the government must do on your behalf (code words for what it can do to you). What were those mentally challenged guys thinking?
And what a tragedy it was that the civil rights movement didn’t put together the coalition of powers that could bring about “redistributive change.” Forget the fact that the Constitution never mentions the redistribution of anything. After all, as with global warming, the debate is over: We all know that redistribution of wealth is the only moral way to operate a country, right?
If we are caught alluding to the Constitution, Queen Nancy herself simply laughs us off with, “Are you serious?” To quote one of my favorite communists, car czar/manufacturing czar Ron “Butthead” Bloom, we get the joke. We know that the whole point is to game the political system, and the vast majority of politicians do that quite well.
America will go through a fundamental change in 2010 — guaranteed. Either it will be fundamentally transformed into a full-fledged socialist police state, then, ultimately, a communist police state, or those who still believe in freedom will do
whatever it takes to overthrow the oligarchy that now rules over us.
If the Republicans, after winning back the House and Senate — or even coming close — continue to act like a branch of the Demopublican Party and ignore the Constitution, it most likely will bring into existence a third party (How about the Tea Party?) that would be the first such animal of the modern era that would have a legitimate shot at of winning the presidency in 2012.
But, as I have so often pointed out, the caveat is that the fascist president and Congress may very well find a Chavezian reason to declare a state of emergency and “postpone” the 2012 presidential election. Regardless of whether that emergency is a total collapse of the U.S. economy (via the Cloward-Piven Strategy) or a terrorist attack, don’t be fooled. If it happens, it will be a planned event by those who are now in power.
Can the U.S. apocalypse be avoided? I’ll address that question in Part II of this article.

The pivotal and trenchant question regarding which direction the country is going to go is, have Americans been so brainwashed as to believe that they are entitled to almost anything, including the things they did not EARN by their own efforts and by the sweat of their own brows?! I’m afraid that too many Americans have been seduced by liberals to believe that life is fair, everyone deserves everything they want, and that being judgmental of other people is somehow morally wrong.
With that entrenched and cancerous mindset now filling the heads and value system of too many Americans, who take these now established “standards” as the status quo, we are in for a very tumultuous period in American politics. Wants are unlimited. Resources are not, regardless of the fact that Uncle Santa Sam wants to keep the printing presses going around the clock to keep most Americans buying the illusion of prosperity without self discipline and hard work. The problem the liberals face is that they have to quickly consolidated power and enact long term punitive legislation BEFORE more people wake up from their somnambulistic illusion, and realize they’ve been played and lied to.
The clock is ticking and 2010 is going to be a very interesting year that will define whether the U.S. will cross the Rubicon and plunge headlong into Socialism, or shake off the effects of the eaten lotus fruit of mass media propagandizing and the demagoguery of the current crop of political sophists, or realize that we’ve been incrementally led astray and are in serious need of a period of house cleaning and trash removal.
We are only, as a nation, entitled only to what we earn. We are going to have to work hard to change the current course, and restore some enforceable accountability and Constitutional controls over those we elect to represent us. If we don’t like the upcoming offered candidates and choices, a viable 3rd part, such as ‘The Tea Party’, would be a serious consideration for those of us who can no longer hold our noses and vote for the perceived “lesser of two evils”.
Oh God, our gold was stolen in 1933, under the pretext of emergency depresson conditions so necessitating, and here we go, again. Well I am out of gold and into Euro Dollars, knowing how the vultures at the top are salivating over the prospect destroying the U.S. Dollar for their excessive enrichment and lecherous empowerment.
All currencies will not tank when the U.S. Dollar goes the way of the dinosaur, or at least is devalued, by a 100-1 ratio. Yes, the Yen and the Swiss Franc and the Scandinavian currencies will take a massive hit, but the Euro Dollar, NZ Kiwi, British Pound, and the Australian Dollar will appreciate, exponentially, given their track record of moving inversely from the direction of the U.S. Dollar.
How many millions of working Americans are “positioned” to allow the government to expropriate – again – their gold, or devalue their currency, whichever comes first?
Forget complaining about the havoc being wreaked upon us by Washington Plutocrats – it is high time for prudent people to bail out of U.S. Dollar-denominated time bomb savings and investments. I did, and I sleep well at night, not really caring about the storm clouds gathering on our horizon. How about you, safe haven strategies in place, or Wizard of Oz myopic optimism as regards the Economic Apocalypse at our doorstep? The hour of decision is nearly at hand, whereby it will soon be too late to bail out. If they were still around, we could ask the German people who burned their own worthless currency in the fireplace to keep warm, circa the winter of 1923, because it bought no bread or milk at any store, what governmental profligacy is like? Learn from history or die from ignorance. It should not even be a choice to be deliberated in these perilous times.

Once again Mr. Ringer puts forth a thought provoking argument that’s difficult to refute. Moreover he’s not alone in his Paul Revere cries of “Socialism is coming socialism is coming.” Many of us already understand that socialism is coming, but fewer seem to grasp that the Republicans are jointly responsible. And the way in which the great Republican leader Johnny Boy McCain babbles on about funding Medicare/Medicaid and all the other socialist programs that he likes, I don’t think that Saul Alinsky himself could have found a better ally. I vote that we make Johnny Boy McCain an honorary community organizer.
Although I can’t bring myself into total agreement with Mr. Ringer that 2010 is the likely year when American Socialism finally becomes fully fledged, and the symbol of the eagle gets replaced with a big, black vulture; I can say with total conviction that I agree with him that a showdown between socialism and liberty is coming. I say it’s just before all the baby-boomers finish retiring, but it could happen by 2012.
Beware of underestimating how America can muddle through. At times, it might seem like that this is it, the big one, and that civil war is upon us; But don’t bet the farm either way because it is entirely plausible that, once again, America can muddle through. Great men and women such as Ludwig von Mises, F.A. Hayek, and Ayn Rand all underestimated at one time or another the power of America being able to muddle through. Having said that, I am personally doing something that I never have done before; I’m moving to my secure location and making my final preparations for the big one. This will be done in a balanced way without losing the proper prospective. If nothing momentous happens, then I’ll take no real loss. I would highly recommend that if anybody has not made some basic preparation that they should do at least a bare minimum now. Even just a small amount of silver, bullets, and other durable/tradable items would be good to have around and far better than nothing.
Mr. Ringer has been the lone voice in the wilderness crying a warning of the coming “state of emergency” before 2012 and during which time the socialists will make their move. I hope people say tuned to this blog, as there is no doubt in my mind that Mr. Ringer will be the first to make the call when it happens.
I’d love someone to recite to Obama the famous “My Creed” (below) by American Statesman Dean Alfange (1899-1989) in an interview, and ask Obama his opinion of Alfange’s words!
“My Creed” by Dean Alfange
“I do not choose to be a common man. It is my right to be uncommon. I seek opportunity to develop whatever talents God gave me — not security. I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me. I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed. I refuse to barter incentive for a dole. I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia. I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any earthly master nor bend to any threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say — `This, with God’s help, I have done.’ All this is what it means to be an American.”
Mr. Ringer,
I have been reading your wisdom for many years (I was introduced to your first book in High School) and while I agree with many of your viewpoints, I believe that your views on the possible suspension of the 2010 election (or 2012) are missing a key point.
If a group of government officials planned a terrorist attack or the total collapse of the economy, they would have to understand that if this was ever discovered the only justice that they would receive would be the justice of the grave. I believe that discovery of such an action would only be a matter of time. Once discovered, the only thing that could prevent armed violence against these officials would be the military. And the military would likely just stand by and watch if they did not participate. Additionally, if the plotters were part of single party, that party would be destroyed in the eyes of most voters forever.
That does not mean that I disagree with your view that the goal of the current administration is a socialist United States. However, the strategy you paint as a possibility is too high risk.
