Just Another Pretty Face?

By Robert Ringer

I always thought that when Sarah Palin finally resurfaced, she would quickly show whether she was going for the money or planning to run for president. If she’s decided to spend her life pursuing riches, I felt she would speak out boldly and truthfully in an unvarnished way that would whip liberal miscreants into a hysterical frenzy.

On the other hand, I was concerned that if she had presidential ambitions, she might make the mistake of spinning, tip-toeing, and dancing around tough questions in an effort to appear mainstream.

I’m happy for Sarah Palin that she’s going to make millions on her book. In fact, I’ve long believed that if she could get herself financially set for life, she would be much more effective in leading the fight against the socialist policies that are bringing down America.

I assumed that the Oprah interview would be much ado about nothing, given that the Queen of Yawn Television not only supported Chairman Obama, she also had a huge television audience to think about — an audience that no doubt includes millions of conservative women.

Everyone is pretty much tired of questions about Bristol’s pregnancy, how Governor Palin feels about Levi the Loser, moose hunting with dad, how she met Todd, and the infighting she endured with the McCain people. We all overdosed on those topics long ago. So my hope was that in her interview with Sean Hannity, Palin would let it all hang out. Unfortunately, it was not to be.

Hannity gave Palin two chances to agree with him that BHO is a socialist. The platter was silver, and he handed it to her in front of millions of fed-up Americans. Sadly, Governor Palin sidestepped the question with the same kind of political slight of tongue that we’ve grown accustomed to with most of our politicians.

Hannity then asked her if she thought the president was a radical — a soft pitch if there ever was one. Answer: “I think his associates are radical.” What the hell kind of answer is that? Governor Palin: Please, answer the question!

Sadly, it was at that point that I knew my concerns about her spinning, tip-toeing, and dancing around tough questions in an effort to appear mainstream as a way to get elected were right. But, thanks to the Master of the Forked Tongue in the White House, times have changed since the million-dollar-smile Alaska governor joined forces with the hapless John McCain and his reach-across-the-aisle pabulum.

A majority of Americans now realize that Chairman Obama is the least transparent president in history … that he rewards his cronies and punishes those who speak out against him … that he coddles terrorists and goes after those who pursue them … that he apologizes to the world for America’s moral inferiority and allows rogue nations to run wild … that Marxists and others who wish to destroy what’s left of capitalism in this country are welcome in his White House … and that, above all, he lies to the American people day in and day out.

Today, if Sarah Palin has presidential ambitions, she should do the exact same thing she would do if she were focusing only on money: Speak out boldly and truthfully in an unvarnished way that would whip liberal miscreants into a hysterical frenzy.

If all Sarah Palin is going to offer the public is a beautiful face and an electric smile, I can just buy her calendar and hang it on my office wall. You know, kind of like Marilyn Monroe’s picture hanging on the inside of GI Joe’s locker during World War II.

Let’s hope Palin’s ho-hum stories keep people interested long enough for her to sell a ton of books and get herself financial comfortable. But then, if she’s serious about a future run for the presidency, it’s time to go to war — because this country is at war. To borrow from the title of Mark Levin’s book, the war is between liberty and tyranny — nothing more and nothing less.

Governor Palin, I’m sorry to say that I don’t have time to be your chief advisor, but I’m more than willing to give you a few free tips. If you want angry Americans — those who are now in the majority! — to take you seriously, here are some cheat notes for you to use in future interviews and speeches:

Barack Obama is a socialist (or, more properly, a Marxist). Say it!

Barack Obama, it obviously follows, is a radical. Say it!

Barack Obama has surrounded himself with Marxists and other radicals who want to fundamentally change America. Say it!

Barack Obama is a liar. Say it!

Barack Obama is trying to collapse the U.S. economy in an effort to get the majority of the voters to elect and reelect socialists to office in 2010 — and get himself reelected in 2012. Say it!

Barack Obama is the least transparent president in U.S. history. Say it!

Barack Obama wants to get a government-controlled healthcare plan and a cap-and-trade bill passed for one reason and one reason only: to gain total control over people’s lives. Say it!

To your credit, you did say that you believe in racial profiling in cases involving potential terrorism, but you nervously alluded to the fact that your comment would probably “make liberal heads explode.” Tip: Don’t worry about liberal heads exploding. The more you make liberal heads explode, the more popular you are going to be with a majority of Americans.

Forget what your current handlers are telling you and take my advice: Whether you’re going for the money or going for the highest office in the land, speak the truth — and speak it with boldness. As I said, the game has changed since you ran for office with the Democrats’ favorite liberal, Mumbles McCain.

We’re now living in the age of the tea-party people. The average American knows the truth about the Duplicitous Despot in the White House and his arrogant criminal cohorts in Congress. They’re mad as hell and ready to throw out anyone and everyone who continues to ignore them.

So mad, in fact, that I believe for the first time in our modern era, a newly organized third party — founded on libertarian-based conservative principles — has a chance to succeed either in 2012 or 2016.

I’m talking about a party with candidates who are willing to talk about rescinding most government programs now in effect, willing to talk about getting government out of private business and corporate America, willing to talk about putting on trial those in high office who are guilty of treason, and, yes, willing to talk about secession.

Please, Sarah, say it ain’t so. Say you’re not just another pretty face. I like Jim DeMint, but hanging his picture on my office wall just doesn’t cut it.

Jeez, Robert, give her time! She just started her damn tour.
You sound like one of John McCain handlers trying to tell her how YOU want her to speak.

Oh, and if a third party is started, Obama will win.
Just like Clinton did in ’92.

Calm down, take a deep breath, and give the woman a chance.
She’s not Jesus Christ, for goodness sakes. And she’s certainly not a slut like Marilyn Monroe either, so drop that sexist comparison immediately. Women are tired of that kind of crap.

  2. Reality seeker says:

This post is from the Mr. Robert Ringer that I remember back 25 years ago. A man who authored some of the best reads of my lifetime. A man who’s unborrowed thoughts, insight, and message so far exceeded his contemporaries, that many of them are still not up to speed 25 years later. You could always depend on Mr. Ringer to side with truth, and not with political affiliation.

Moreover, my sobriquet is Fault Finder; yet, I cannot find any fault or, even, make a single negative remark about Mr. Ringer’s piercing and “unvarnished” analyzes of former Governor Sarah Palin.

The advise and constructive criticism that Mr. Ringer offers in this post is nothing less than priceless.

Our leaders need to be forthright, give direct answers to frank questions, and stop the “political slight of tongue.” “Speak the truth — and speak it with boldness.” America needs genuine leadership that’s not one bit intimidated my socialism.

Right here and now, I’m going to boldly say a thing or two that will undoubtedly offend more than a few people, and, no doubt, they will think of me as arrogant, negative, and criminally strident.

Currently, we live in an age of nondescript thinkers. Sometimes, I despair when I search for a modern-day inspirer for the children. We have a plethora of books that make the Best Seller List, but few of them are worth reading— fewer still are worth rereading—and none are worth pondering. I often stop and ask myself, where is the replacement for Ayn Rand? It’s not Mr. Glenn Beck, I’ll tell you that right now. And it’s not, nor will it ever be, Governor Sarah Palin. By comparison, Sarah Palin’s entire book is not even worth one page written by Ayn Rand.

I had made the unfortunate mistake of reading the first three of Mr. Bill O’Reilly’s best selling books, and I had come to the conclusion that the totality of his work was not worth one page of what the great thinkers of the past crumpled up and disposed of as garbage. I heard it said by somebody that the pages of Mr. O’Reilly’s books were not worth reading, and that they were only useful as toilet paper. I disagree, they are not even useful for that. Every single idea in his books were poorly or near poorly expressed. At best, his wisdom is a common exercise in mediocrity. Moreover, all of Mr. O’Reilly’s thoughts were borrowed from other thinkers far better at their craft than him.

To all, but to most of all, the young, I say, here and now, what the leaders of this country should boldly say: “Greed is good.” Yes greed, but only if it’s rational greed. Likewise, selfishness is good as long as it remains rational and long-term in its orientation. And anyone who tells you any different is dishonest or living in a dream world.

The virtue that motivates mankind to magnificent achievement~~~sound the trumpets and roll the drums please~~~ It is none other than the virtue of selfishness. And without fully understanding the concept of human selfishness, and exploiting it, young people will never realize their full potential— in fact, they may not even survive. So then, selfishness is not only good, it’s a virtue. Didn’t your mother ever tell you this? No? Well then, how about the marvelous Glenn Beck? No, not even a whisper about rational selfishness from him? I guess he was too busy teaching you how to pray to Jesus, huh? And Governor Sarah Palin? She’s clueless, just like the rest of the collectivists.

Whom will guide the young people and help them ascend to a higher place where “the men [and women] of unborrowed vision” sit and ponder? I look around me and, with few exceptions, I only see the blind leading the blind.

F.A. Hayek once said that some roads are so treacherous that they require both common and uncommon sense in order to travel on them safely. Mr. Beck has the common variety. And he is a good man(one of the best we’ve got that’s still living), but, still, you’ll have to look elsewhere to find a pure source of abundant uncommon sense.

It has been almost one hundred and fifty years since Henry David Thoreau thought out loud and revealed his beautiful mind; must we wait another one hundred and fifty to meet his equal?

There have been many fine men, such as Mr. O’Reilly, who have had good intentions; men with soft hearts and softer heads. Men that were only dimly aware of the realities that surrounded them. So much has escaped their notice that it’s a negligent crime against humanity; the way in which they have used the power of the press. They should have remained back where they belong, with the “folks.” Tell me, how do men such as him ever become such big shot writers and teachers of children? And, the greater deduction to be made and taken away as a lesson is deduced by the question: Who is the greater fool here? Mr. O’Reilly or each of the folks who, night after night, waste unrecoverable time reading his books and tuning into his show? I (aka Mr. Nobody) was a fool for doing it, and that’s for sure; However, it won’t happen twice! And, with Sarah Palin’s new book it won’t happen to me even once. One only need skim through her trivial book to see that it’s not worth the paper it’s been written on.

Who is there, today, that can properly teach the young the most poorly taught arts of our time? (The art of selfish thinking and the art of being greedy).

What seems to be far beyond the mental reach and grasp of both the hoi polloi and the hoi oligoi is just how limitless the potential of society could be if it would be allowed to properly build itself upon a firm foundation of selfishness. As a prime example, Capitalism derives its success from Selfishism, and it cannot survive without it.

The real irony in this new century is that selfishness is far superior and more beneficial to a free country than altruism is; but, sadly, altruism and shame are still being used by the elites to keep the masses corralled, and this inhibits both classes from reaching their true potential.

The bottom line: Sarah Palin is no Ayn Rand.

  3. PalmKey says:

    Great Tortoise,
Let me say first, I saw the interview with Sean Hannity but was not fully listening. And I saw the segment that you refer to. I did have an immediate reaction then to those questions and answers, and my reaction was… that she is not running for President yet, and although she does feel and believe as you expressed and as the questions lead she answered them in an obviously political type way, answering the question yet not straight out. I feel it may be a bit too early for her to be explicit and in your face. She has a forum to speak to all the American people for the first time since the ill fated election campaign run and where she has been pounded even since in the state media. In my opinion, he tour and book release does not have to be about campaigning against Obama now. If she can learn and talk coherently on issues in addition to energy (oil) including international issues and firm, broaden and establish her appeal again as a potential in 2012, then she can in the future directly cal a spade a spade.

  4. Curmudgeon says:

Sorry Robert, but 3rd Parties are a joke. the American political landscape is littered with the wrecks of 3rd parties, which seem to appear every 20-28 years or so. We are better off trying to inflitrate and take over the Republican Party.

You were spot on in that essay until you suggested going into the 3rd Party wilderness.

  5. deusimplicitus says:

The political process and dynamic in the United States has become so onerous and requiring such great self sacrifice to participate in, if one has integrity and a sense of wisdom born of a greater perspective and experience, that few, if any real potential leaders have come into the public spotlight. Telling the unvarnished truth is not a winning strategy at present. Perhaps it never was, but truth
has become accepted as subjective as it’s definition in modern day America is based more on feelings and not on reason.

We find ourselves in a nation of people suffering from a generic malaise and obsessed with what amounts to distractive feel good short term trivialities. This voting majority are thus lacking in any real higher minded values that would turn the tide and reverse the rapidly decaying orbit we find ourselves in on almost all levels.

Sarah Palin is apparently flawed and no exception to the mindset of what American’s are continually attracted to initially, and then when elected, fails to manifest in office. The signs are all there with the now standard practice of releasing a book and the campaigning on the merits of the books popularity, but with reserve and caution as to avoid making the “big mistake” that would undermine the desired goal of political power. In other words, compromise and no real internal guiding integrity.

Truth has become distasteful to the average American as it would require facing hard realities and difficult individual self sacrifice in the short term due to the illusionary nature of
what most people have built their lives around to attain short term immediate gratification.

The proverb “Tell the truth…and then run!” comes to mind. Politicians have learned to tell populace winning lies to attain a majority of votes, with many Americans accepting their sugar coated lies so that Americans can enjoy a continuation of their illusionary expectations, and yet not the truth and not
a good long term strategy if people sincerely care about the future and the future generations who will be forced to live in the future in which those in the present lay the foundation.
Americans love their illusions and want their children to enjoy the same degree of illusionary prosperity that those that preceded us created, but the currently waning prosperity was created with higher realistic values and standards that made the now passing prosperity possible.

The few who are willing to speak up and stand behind a more traditional and long term platform for restoring America to stability, health, and prosperity also have enough real world wisdom to understand that people love to be lied to in order to avoid dealing with personal sacrifice and giving up the illusionary lifestyle they’ve become used to and refuse to give up.

So even though a few will speak out and say what needs to be said about our current and continuing decline as a nation, at the same time, these few are sane and rational enough to understand that they do not stand a snowballs chance in hell to win a majority and attain any real power in American political office.

A sane and rational person speaking the hard and objective truth of what is, and what needs to be done, to a majority of a populace composed mainly of pharmaceutically and technologically medicated neurotic and even psychotic people obsessively embracing and used to accepting lies and illusions as solutions, will in a best case scenario be ignored, and in a worst case scenario stoned to death.
The futility of being a national pariah and the eventual “martyrdom” that comes as a result, is not an appealing occupational goal to a sane and rational person.

  6. Reality seeker says:

    Mr. Deusimplicitus,

Well thought out and well written. I agree, the people want their ears tickled with lies, and there is no shortage of ticklers.

    Mr. Curmudgeon,

First, I like your name, as it’s sarcastic right from the start.

You are correct and reasonable in your grumpy extrapolation that a third party has little chance in this current environment; the one that you and I are accustom to. Yes, third parties usually come in third at the end of an election. But this time, I must respectfully disagree with you.

It is now inevitable that the entire two party system, the oligarchy, is going to become totally fractured. Both the Democrats and the Republicans will continue to slowly rot until—as the years pass— the stench becomes so bad that “the people” will be unable to “hold their noses” any longer. A third party will emerge, and maybe a forth. Remember what happened to the Communist Party—- it died, right? Or going back in American history, remember what happened to the Federalist Party? Or the Whigs?

The shake up that’s coming in the current two-party-political-system isn’t going to be just a shake up, it’s going to be a massive earthquake. History, major earth shaking history, is going to me made in our lifetime.

  7. BB says:

As usual, great point of view.

She’s doing what she needs to do right now. It WILL take alot of money to resist the clowns in Washington and the Lame Street Media.

I’m confident that when the time comes she will be unafraid.

  8. darshan says:

    Dear Robert,

I’m afraid. I’m afraid to speak my truth. And that scares the hell out of me. I’m afraid to speak out and say what I really want to say for so many reasons.

In our digital age in which information is stored in so many places and can be so easily retrieved, something I say today could be used against me later on. Now, I’m not paranoid, but in my gut, I feel quite uneasy about the state of affairs in this country and the powers that be (both seen and unseen) who are running the show.

I have seriously thought about politics and running for local office and then working my way up the ranks. But there are several things that stop me. If I speak up and “tell the truth” and “say what’s really going on” then my fear is that what one of your subscribers, deusimplicitus said will come true. Here is that quote.

“So even though a few will speak out and say what needs to be said about our current and continuing decline as a nation, at the same time, these few are sane and rational enough to understand that they do not stand a snowballs chance in hell to win a majority and attain any real power in American political office.

The futility of being a national pariah and the eventual “martyrdom” that comes as a result, is not an appealing occupational goal to a sane and rational person.”

So what am I supposed to do? That is a rhetorical question of course. The only thing to do for me is to live my truth and speak my truth and, as Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”.

The point is, how can I best affect that change? Do I do it as an outsider like Palin was or do I do it from within the corrupt, disgusting, morally reprehensible political system we have? I don’t have an answer to that. What I do know is that I have no desire to fight against what is because I believe that whatever you give energy to only becomes stronger. Anger begets anger, hatred begets hatred, etc. Therefore, I only focus on what I want, not what I don’t.

So in a nutshell, here are the principals I believe in. If I ran, they would be the entire foundation on which every decision would be made by me and my staff. I believe it’s worth the effort. In fact, I believe that our future as a prosperous, healthy, and relatively happy and well-balanced civilization depends on it.

    1. 100% personal responsibility and accountability from everyone.

    2. Integrity through and through. Each person would be vetted so thoroughly so that if dirt of any major consequence was found, they would not be allowed to serve in my administration. I understand that the word “major” would have to be carefully defined and there would be no wiggle room.

    3. Truth above all, along with honesty, frankness, openness and transparency would encapsulate everything we do. No avoiding tough questions. No prepared audiences. No pre-screened questions. Just raw, open dialogue. Tell the truth so people can make their own decisions. There is no need to protect “we the people” from anything. We can handle it if we are not brainwashed into thinking we can’t and that we need those in charge to do the thinking for us.

    4. When it comes to moral issues like abortion, I am personally opposed, but I don’t believe it’s a political issue. As a result, I would not be involved. I would leave the laws the way they are as I don’t believe it’s OK or right for me to tell anyone else what to do or not to do. I don’t believe in legislating morality. Yes, that opens up many cans of worms and I’ll be happy to deal with them when they come up.

    5. I believe that as people, we all want to be appreciated, valued, respected and listened to. I believe we all want to live our lives the way we see fit so long as it does not harm or violate other’s rights to their life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And there should be no one and no Government to tell us otherwise. I would create a forum where anyone can have input into what’s going on and that input would be taken seriously.

    6. I believe in human ingenuity and creativity as the best solution to the economy or the ecology or any other “problem” however large or small we have. People are amazing and if given the chance, they can do anything, solve any problem and change any situation from one they don’t want to one they do… as long as they have the opportunity.

    7. Education would be paramount. No more bulimic learning where information is jammed down young people’s throats and then regurgitated on “tests”. And nothing is retained. Education would become real, relevant and right. Teachers would be held to some of the highest standards possible. So would our young people. Our up and coming generations would be taught how to think, not what to think. They would be taught to think for themselves and to believe, value, respect, honor and love themselves. They would be taught that they are priceless treasures and that they can make their lives what they want them to be and that they can make their world what they want it to be. I am not talking about a Utopia here where everything is perfect because it won’t be, but it can be a heck of a lot better than it is now.

    8. I believe in term limits – All politicians get one shot to do their best. If they’re not well intentioned, hopefully they won’t be able to get too entrenched and become too powerful. Their term would end before they developed too many connections, etc. I believe
politicians should be paid wages comparable to the average person’s wage. I believe they should not get those wages for life either, nor should they be able to vote themselves a raise. I would not have a health plan at all. I would leave it to private industry. Medicare and Medicaid and all other Government programs in place now would be radically overhauled and the billions of dollars in fraud would be recouped and put back in the system.

    9. I believe in a giant reduction in the Government. Not quite as far as no Government, but probably 80-90% less than we have now. Special interest groups, political favors, kickbacks and lobbyists would be eliminated. I do believe in a military that is large and well prepared and well stocked to hopefully make terrorists think twice about attacking us. I believe we should use swift force if attacked and I believe we should get the heck out of all of the countries we are in and do it as safe and as quickly as possible. If we need to be in a country, by all means, we should stay. Again, how the word “need” is defined and who would define it would be the key. All of the money we would save from doing that could go to education. I believe ignorance is more costly than anything and a proper education is the best way to combat that.

Well, that’s it for now. I am sure there will be much more to come as I ponder on this for many more days, weeks, months, etc.

In closing, I thank you for sharing your thoughts so openly and honestly and for writing about what you believe in.

    Until next time…
