Way to Go, Greta!
By Robert Ringer
After all these years, I’m throwing in the towel and complimenting Greta. When it comes to actions that I believe to be unconscionable, I’m not one who easily forgets. I didn’t mind Greta being a philosophical liberal — that’s her right. But her nightly defenses of the 21st century’s most infamous murderer, O.J., were hard to swallow.
Now that I’ve finally put aside the O.J. stuff (well, almost), I’m able to view Greta more objectively. When she finally broke free from CNN and made the transition to Fox News back in 2002, it took her a few years, but she began moving ever so slowly toward the middle. And the last year or so — I suspect as a result of her buddy-buddy relationship with Sean Hannity — Greta may have actually started leaning a tad … just a tad … to the right.
In truth, though, my sense is that she’s just a very smart woman who tenaciously tries to get at the facts, regardless of whom it hurts or helps. She’s a straight arrow who has a deeply ingrained sense of justice about her that causes her to ask pointed questions … again … and again … and again. I doubt that she thinks of herself in strong ideological terms.
I say deeply ingrained sense of justice, because she becomes very impatient when guests talk nonsensically, lie, or try to spin the facts. And in her recent interview with Russell Mokhiber, founder of “Single Payer Action” — a group right out of Atlas Shrugged — there was a lot of all three going on.
In a recent article, I noted how Barack Obama’s former doctor, David L. Scheiner, didn’t just talk like Saul Alinsky, he looked like him! But everything is relative. Scheiner’s scowl makes him look like Ronald McDonald compared to the hateful frown on Mokhiber’s face.
I couldn’t make up my mind who Mokhiber most resembled — Joseph Goebbels or Adolf Eichmann. I guess I’d have to give the nod to Eichmann, because his twisted scowl reminded me more of an executioner than a mere propagandist.
And yet, a propagandist he proved to be during the interview. In fact, his endless repetition of his assertion that “sixty people die every day due to a lack of health insurance” made it clear that he understood Goebbels’ famous words: “The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly – It must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over.”
In nonstop fashion, Mokhiber vilified Whole Foods founder and CEO John Mackey, who is famous for his pro-employee philosophy of business. Whole Foods, which employs some 50,000 people, has repeatedly been named one of the best companies in America to work for, and it provides insurance benefits to 80 percent of its employees.
As a result, Mackey has been something of a populist hero to the average working man and woman. Then, just like that, he went and ruined it all by daring to suggest that the Duplicitous Despot’s government-monopoly healthcare plan may not be in the best interests of patients, doctors, or America in general. Zap! Mackey went from hero to scumbag quicker than you could say change you can believe in.
Worse, he had the audacity to offer his own idea of what he believes to be a better healthcare plan for America. Audacious! Who does he think he is, a free citizen? A successful employer who has a proven healthcare plan in place for his employees? A productive individual who has created thousands of jobs? A business owner who has succeeded by giving consumers what they want?
What in the world would make him believe he has a right to voice a dissenting opinion? He’s probably just another one of those dreaded teabaggers in disguise.
Mr. Mokhiber was having none of such hype. He wanted Mackey tarred and feathered, and sent his progressive troops to picket Whole Foods stores in Austin, New York, and Washington, D.C. Outrageous, yes, but a real yawner … a supreme dud.
What really ticked off Greta was Mokhiber’s repeatedly saying that because John Mackey is against single-payer healthcare, he’s a “bad guy.” Gee, and here I’ve been led to believe that most Americans are against single-payer healthcare. The only thing I’ll give Mokhiber credit for is that, unlike his Oval Office hero, he didn’t lie about what he wants: government-only healthcare.
As everyone in America now knows, BHO continues to claim that government healthcare would be “just another option,” even though he was captured on video, in 2003, saying, “I happen to be a proponent of a single-payer universal health-care program.” The man does have a charming way about him, doesn’t he?
But this isn’t about BHO, who is already way too overexposed. It’s about how Greta handled Mokhiber’s nasty assertions that John Mackey is a bad guy who should be silenced. True-blue progressives simply don’t like to hear dissenting views. Greta skewered him and never backed off, no matter how many times he followed his Goebbels repetition strategy. She simply was dumbfounded that Mokhiber would call a model citizen a “bad guy” for not agreeing with the president’s viewpoint.
You can see the whole interview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bokc3ArB4M0
Let me know what you think — Goebbels or Eichmann? It’s a tough call. Either way, just remember that Mokhiber is typical of the kind of person that too many Republicans believe they can reason with — you know, “reach across the aisle.” You have a better chance of trying to get Ayman al-Zawahiri to consider your point of view.
In any event, a thumbs up to Greta. And could this mean that there’s hope for Geraldo? Easy … let’s not get too carried away here.

I like Greta – didn’t ever see her before she came to Fox news and must admit that I don’t watch any TV often enough to say I “know her well.” But what I’ve seen, I like. I appreciate the way she tries to nail people down to the truth.
Some of them, however, are just too slippery. Like trying to nail jello to a tree. But, in sliding away from her questions they do reveal their true natures, so she exposes them for what they are.
Thanks as always for your letters,

The “gentleman” interviewed by Greta looked and acted as though he had a mouthful of very bad stuff. He never explained how the plan he was for would stop 60 people from dying per day. Someone differed with what’s his name, therefore the differing person was/is wrong. People unwilling to consider other viewpoints are generally wrong.
Robert,
I am apalled by the hubris of this wonk to attack a fine executive like John Mackey. I think Greta was super in her reaction to him letting him know she, as a lawyer, as he is is dismayed by him calling a really good man a bad guy. I think he has the effect on me that so far has eluded me in this process. He made me finally be clear I am not going to support a program/party that is represented by people this horrible little wonk. He is Goebbles, for sure. I caught the refrain, “60 people a day will die as they do not have insurance.”

Goebbels. I think there is a definite family resemblance. lol
Mokhiber is definitely a shoo-in for Eichmann… not only physically but philosophically and morally as well. He is also good at imitating Goebbels, but he is ultimately a killer at heart. I could only get about half-way through the interview before my stomach started reacting adversely to the mere presence of such a nauseatingly obnoxious example of the excremental level of existence that some miserable examples of the human race choose for themselves. Were his senseless rant of 60 deaths a day remotely true, then I would definitely vote that he be on tomorrow’s list of 60. People like him should be hung. I have never understood the logic of providing to enemies bent on destroying our way of life, the rights which our way of life provide (or at least, used to). A death penalty – slow and tortuous – appears to be the only fitting response to the the filthy diatribe of a Mokhiber.
Undoubtedly, the guy feeds on his delusions of grandeur, his hate, his moral filth, his envy and on the inferiority complex that manifests itself as hatred for any opinion different from his own.
Disgusting… totally disgusting.
Yep, that death penalty idea sounds good when dealing with scum such as Mokhiber.
Robert, that guy was beyond arrogant (frankly, he struck me as a bit unbalanced). That anyone would actually follow him and picket Whole Foods based on his pathetic “logic” speaks sadly for society. In any case, I think this comment on the You Tube page where the clip was shown says it all:
I’m a Canadian and I can tell you that 61 people a day die in Canada BECAUSE of the socialistic universal health care we have here. Obama is trying to hoax you Americans (and the majority of you know it)
Thanks for everything Robert!
Fred Blum
When trying to understand socialist politicians, you have to read between the lines.
When Obama says that government healthcare would be “just another option,” and a few years before he said that he is a “proponent of a single-payer universal health-care program” he does not contradict himself, if you translate his socialist-language to plain english.
Here’s the translation by my guess:
“single-payer universal health-care program” means: Everybody is forced to pay the fee for the government insurance ( and probably the fee is a percentage of the income, say 7%, instead of a fixed dollar amount. )
“Government healthcare is just another option” means that you are not (yet) forced to use the services of the government healthcare system, and you still have the freedom to choose any medical treatment which is not covered by the government insurance, if you pay it yourself with your own dollars. ( that is, if you have enough dollars left after you pay taxes, forced insurance and other government mandated payments. )
Or in other words: If you want good healthcare, you still have to pay it yourself.
But you still have to pay for the government system even if you don’t (want to) use it.
The government system will be so inefficient and cash-burning anyways, that government is glad if you don’t use it, as long as you pay for it.
So, in essence, it’s an additional income tax.
The effect will be:
* poor people will get some minimal health care which they might not have gotten before.
* middle class income people will be forced to switch from high quality healthcare to lower quality healthcare because they cannot afford to pay twice for their healthcare.
* upper class income people will pay more taxes and will use the same healthcare as before, but will sped less money elsewhere or they will apply some changes in their businesses in order to compensate the higher tax.
***
Here’s how I came up with these translations: I live in Europe and we already have that kind of government health care system. And I am very used to socialist political language and how to translate it in to plain English.
Several years ago I have basically stopped to use the government healthcare system due to some bad experience with it and now I am paying for my own, far superior healthcare which is based on alternative medicine.
My health condition has dramatically improved since this switch.
My income is middle class but I give my health a very high priority, so I am sacrificing expenses elsewhere.
This guy proves a comment from a high school teacher would say, “no one knows how stupid or ignorant you are until you speak, so if you can’t say something intelligent it is best to stay quiet.”
This guy needs to learn how to be quiet. Giving some quote from a study doesn’t make it true or accurate.
I’m sure I can find a study from some medical journal that says because of single payer healthcare in Canada 60 people die because of lack of service.
This guy is ignorant and arrogant.
I think I’ll go shop at Whole Foods today because of him.
Wow! I had not seen this interview and I must agree with you. This guy is like a clone of Adolf Eichmann…the re-incarnation, eyebrows and all. When he kept holding his hand out toward Greta with his palm down I expected him to yell out Zeig Hiel!!!
This is one scary looking dude. Where DOES BHO find these people? Do you suppose he move here from Buenos Aires.

In an excerpt from the 1960 trial posted at YouTube, Eichmann gives the impression of a clerk trying to helpfully clear up some unfortunate misunderstanding. http://bit.ly/ysDZu My German doesn’t extend beyond “was ist das,” and the pictograph captioning doesn’t really help, but one presumes the questioning has something to do with the Nazi regime’s plotting at Wannsee to exterminate the Jews as suggested by the title. Hannah Arendt famously emphasized Eichmann’s demeanor during the in her book, Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil. Thus too much can be made of the scowling, though it appears to be perfectly spiritually apt in Mokhiber’s case. Other partisans of the destruction of our liberty are all sweetness and light and accommodation in the process of ushering in commiecare; they’re booked on the “PBS News Hour.”
Another fine article. Keep up the good work.
Having watched Greta for years, first in CNN, and then on Fox, I think you might have tarred her incorrectly as a “liberal” to begin with. That’s a bit of a broad stroke. She’s actually a ‘classical liberal’ and always has been, a “blue dog democrat” with a socially liberal bent. Her “defense” of OJ was a legal – not a moral – position.
