Shame on Those Angry Mobs

Now that citizens who show up at town-hall meetings officially have been labeled “angry mobs” by their employees (i.e., the people they elect to represent them), Saul Alinsky (“the founder of community organizing in America”) must be smiling from below. An individual’s voice of dissent is no longer seen as such, because he is simply part of an unruly mob. In other words, he’s not a real person.

Dehumanization is a favorite trick of progressives. When the Supreme Court, in a landmark case in 1857, ruled against Dred Scott, a slave who had lived for long periods of time in free states with his master, Chief Justice Roger B. Taney explained the court’s decision by simply proclaiming that Scott was nothing more than the property of his owner — and property, of course, had no right to file a lawsuit.

As Judge Andrew Napolitano points out in his book Dred Scott’s Revenge, pro-choicers now use the same argument to kill unborn babies. A “fetus” is simply declared to be a “clump of cells” and — Presto! — the incubating human being is dehumanized.

Which brings us back to the congressional usurpers, who have a major decision to make. Do they face the “angry mobs” who will no longer let them get away with their doublespeak and lies, or do they hide behind drawn shades and risk being thrown out of office in 2010?

Ridicule and a dismissive attitude toward those who challenge their authority to do as they please are tactics right out of the Saul Alinsky playbook, Rules for Radicals. Simply wave aside dissent and declare that “Some people just don’t want to work toward solutions. Instead, they’d rather politicize everything.” No one spews out this cutesy Orwellian stuff better than The Master of the Forked Tongue himself — always with a unique sort of smirk-scowl on his face.

I agree with Karl Rove, who said recently, “I’m more concerned about whether people are going to speak out.” I will continue to say it: What is needed is not 10,000 people at a protest rally, but hundreds of thousands of peaceful protesters in the streets of every major city — day and night, nonstop.

Should those who recognize that their liberty is slipping away at an ever-accelerating pace reach that point, it would be interesting see the reaction from those peeking out from behind the curtains in the White House. Would the Thugocrats panic and use Iranian-style force to disperse and silence the people they work for?

If so, it would bring every last “independent” — and a lot of “moderate,” philosophically confused liberals — into the liberty tent very quickly. This would send a clear message that an overwhelming majority of Americans disapprove of their autocratic actions.

The Thugocrats would then be left with two alternatives: (1) Establish a dictatorship or (2) accept the fact that they will be thrown out of office, en masse, in 2010 and 2012.

I, for one, don’t want to take a guess at which choice they would make. How about you?

Thanks for your usual clear, concise, wry exposition of what the hell is really going on in America today.

I believe (and sometimes pray to reinforce my convictions)that Obama’s own preening arrogance. overweeing ambition, and complete lack of leadership substance will be his eventual downfall. He has, predictably enough, surrounded himself with a cooing cadre of fawning sycophants, blindly loyal to their man, rather than their country and its 300 million citizens.

Keep the cameras rolling, though; every time one of these Dem-wits offers yet another condescending, scathing attack on everyday American citizens, they only reveal who they are and what they’re really about to the “unwashed masses” they claim to serve—but secretly despise and demean.

I shall reserve my vintage vitriol for the mainstream media pundits and wannabe “journalists” who have laid their souls—and every last tattered shred of professional credibility—at the Fabian socialist altar of the Obamessiah.

First the conservatives found their voices and began protesting Obama’s socialist steamroller. Then the moderates and independents slowly began awakening to the fact that something was amiss in the faux Camelot White House. Then Congressional Democrats of conscience began to urge caution and fiscal responsibility—all the while fearing for their jobs as November 2010 looms ever closer.

The final straw will be when the media, as they always do (Right, Hillary?) turns viciously on The Chosen One as they realize that Obama and his jack-booted thugs have become vilified by most of the citizenry.

    It will be ugly, Robert.

And I will enjoy watching this incompetent, spoiled empty suit fall from grace with relish…and maybe even a Chicgo-style hot dog.

    Robert,
I think a certain dehumanization with respect to a fetus is justified. A fetus is a *potential* human. When you weigh the rights of the potential human to that of the actual mother, there is no context.

  3. [...] Surely it could be anticipated that SOMEONE might take that as an excuse for violent behavior?  Surely the White House realizes that some of their union thug supporters may decide to get physical?  Is this intentional intimidation? [...]

  4. deusimplicitus says:

Obamaunism is a complete failure. These oligarchs have forgotten, as you point out, that they work for us, and not the other way around.
The current ripples of peaceful protests at the public appearances of these political thugs, is just a reminder of that fact.
As more Americans realize the gravity of the situation, and that we are at the crossroads of deciding if we will forfeit our rights to have our politicians listen to us, or if we will be dictated to by people who have on average, have never held a real job in their lives, the peaceful protests will grow from a rumble into a national cacophony of outrage at the political hubris that has become endemic in our nation.
They work for us. Not the other way around. End of story.

  5. Omni says:

You mean like conservative Richard Nixon did in the 1970′s? Or like the other paragon of conservatism Ronald Reagan said of those who exercised their freedom to assemble: “If it takes a bloodbath, let’s get it over with. No more appeasement.”?

Conservative thugs are just as reprehensible as liberal thugs.
