Sgt. Crowley: You’re No Joe the Plumber
By Robert Ringer
Obama’s “Beer Summit” was yet another stupid distraction from the reality that his czars, thugocrats, and progressive supporters in Congress are moving quickly to shove us into the socialist cage and slam the door shut before another election can take place. Thankfully, most people didn’t buy into this sideshow, seeing it as just another asinine, arrogant attempt to bolster his good-guy image.
Francis Reilly, president of Reilly Communications Inc., described Obama’s cheap theatrics this way: “Roosevelt had his Malta, Obama has his Malt.” If BHO didn’t have bad intentions, you’d be tempted to dismissively chuckle at his childish antics.
Having said that, and even though BHO’s poll numbers are sinking, it’s scary to contemplate the number of bamboozled Americans who still don’t get it. Rush Limbaugh had the courage to say it straight out in a recent interview with Greta: “This is a bad guy.” Now that’s what I call candid.
Every time the man looks into a camera, snickers, and waves aside those who resist going along with his Marxist agenda as obstructionists or extremists, it makes me realize what an amateur liar Bill Clinton was. Obama is the real deal — Fidel, Mao, and Lenin rolled into one. Or, even worse, how about Pelosi, Reid, and Frank rolled into one?
But I digress. Back to the world-shaking Beer Summit. I’m in the minority on this, but I feel compelled to say what no one else seems to be willing to say: Police Sgt. James Crowley was a major disappointment, for two reasons.
First, he didn’t have the courage, self-discipline, or dignity to say no to Obama’s invitation. Let’s be honest here. Apparently the thrill of being thrust into the limelight — visiting the White House as a guest of the president of the United States — was simply too much for him to resist.
Now you might be thinking, “Given similar circumstances, I’ll bet Robert Ringer would have sold out too.” If so, you’re wrong. I can’t prove it, but I’m positive I would not have lowered myself to buttress the president’s image by being part of yet another cheap BHO campaign stunt.
And, quite frankly, I’d be willing to bet that most of you folks reading this article would not have sold out either. After all, you’re Voice of Sanity subscribers!
Fifteen minutes of fame is okay, I guess. I understand the desire to get attention, but I understand the need to stick to one’s principles even more. There are some things that are far more important than a brief moment of feeling important.
Like, for example, a little something called liberty. BHO is a well-documented lifetime hater of capitalism and individual sovereignty who is in the process of keeping his campaign promise to “remake America.” Why in the world would you want to help him continue to mesmerize those remaining supporters whose eyes are still glazed over from Inauguration Day euphoria?
Sgt. Crowley could have been a hero to millions of fed up Americans — especially those who now realize they were had in the last election — if he’d simply responded, “Thanks, but no thanks.” Wow! Can you imagine what a message that would have sent to the country? Crowley would have been immortalized had he said something like:
While I mean no disrespect, I have decided to decline the president’s invitation to have a beer at the White House and talk things over with someone who violated the law and caused me to have to arrest him. I have a job to do, and I have neither the time to go to Washington, nor an interest in going, for what is obviously a PR stunt.
Enough taxpayer money has already been wasted, and I don’t want to be a party to wasting even more on flying me and others to Washington to talk things over. The only thing that matters here is that I carried out my duty as a police officer in a professional manner, so there is nothing to discuss.
Contrary to what the media and the White House seem to believe, this is not a national news story. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to work.
Those comments would have ensconced Sgt. Crowley in the Teabagger Hall of Fame alongside Joe the Plumber!
The second reason Sgt. Crowley was a disappointment is that, at his post-summit press conference (yawn), he came across as an amateur politician reading comments that sounded suspiciously like they were prepared by someone else. I won’t try to guess who that someone else might be.
What came out of his mouth was a make-nice conglomeration of words cut in the BHO mold — tiptoeing gingerly, careful not to say anything emotive or politically incorrect. For me, it was a real turnoff. I would rather have listened to Louis Farrakhan or Rev. Wright. At least they’re entertaining — and straightforward about their views.
And then, of course, came the questions from the media puppies. While I respect police officers who don’t use their badges to bully citizens, how many more times do we have to watch one of these star-struck lawmen hold a press conference and say to the salivating press, “Yes, in the back there … your question?”
I have this uncomfortable feeling that every police chief in the U.S. is waiting patiently for a “nationwide” story to hit his district so he can get behind the mic and show his reality-TV stuff.
Enough! It’s time for all of us to get back to work. Fighting progressive fascists is a full-time job for those of us who cherish liberty. Let’s hope the prez with the chip on his shoulder and the fake smile keeps wasting his time on ever more campaign schmaltz so the rest of us will have time to spread the truth about universal health care, cap and trade, and the Marxist agenda that he is close to having securely in place.
Oh … and by the way … if you happen to have the president’s ear, you might mention to him that Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, and Russia — not to mention several million terrorists around the world — are still causing, and plotting, mischief for the U.S. Perhaps we need a Mischief Czar? If so, I would like to take this opportunity to nominate Joe the Plumber.

When I heard that Sgt Crowley agreed to the “beer summit” the first thought in my head was, “I bet the police department insisted that he go”.
If you look at his body language during the “summit”, he is sitting back in his chair with his legs wide apart. This is a typical show of “manhood”.
He did not sit forward and engage with the others, he was basically showing his balls.
To me, he was speaking volumes.
Give the guy the benefit of the doubt. My bet is that he was forced to go.
And his body language told me exactly what was on his mind.
Way to show ‘em what you REALLY think, Crowley!
While I do agree with you on your point that he should have turned down the invite. I also recognize what we call Cambridge up here – the people’s republic. This poor cop is now a marked man and every minority with a bone to pick will try to pull him into it. He did his job and the professor and the Obama have made a mockery of him. And conveniently the professor just had a book signing – wonder how much the beer summit sold books for him?
My question to you is why didn’t the media pull the stupid comment into context with the twenty years of
pastoral racist guidance by his former pastor or even his wife with her not proud of America comments. Surely Obama’s stupid comment aimed at the Cambridge Police has an aura of racism in my mind. But what do we expect from this man who can only deliver speeches from a transponder and refuses to allow the media access to his birth and education records. What is even more important is that no political party was able to produce a truly viable candidate to stop this disaster from being elected.
Crowley is now eligible for promotion to lieutenant in the People’s Republic of Cambridge. Had he done the right thing, his fate would have been sealed in this Dumbocrap stronghold. Crowley had arrested an annointed one, i.e. Skippy Hates, friend of the Dalai Bama. He had no choice but to bow before Hussein Osama or face his end of days.
Mr. Ringer, you are quickly becoming my hero. Please keep on bringing it strong. America is quickly sinking into the the ‘sea of lies’ that make Washington D.C. the Stench Capital of the world. God help us. I do not know if Sgt. Crowey was ‘forced’ to go or not but I wish he would have closed the door to this president and ALL that he stands for. Wake up America… Before it too late.
I, too, was dead-set against Sgt Crowley attending this farce of an event. I, personally, would have turned it down politely, firmly, and immediately.
When I heard he had accepted the invitation, my first thought was “they made him do it.” The Cambridge police department was apparently so concerned about being perceived as “racist” that they took the easy way out. Too bad Sgt Crowley had to be the scapegoat.
I agree with TamaraK, his body language said it all. I have to give him points for swallowing his pride and going along with the whole orchestrated event for the good of his department. I doubt he was seeking 15 minutes of fame for himself.
To ignore the FACT that Sgt. Crowley was forced to participate in this “summit” is to only be ignorant. If you want to see the real result of the summit, there is a photo that was published on the White House website that shows BHO bounding ahead of Sgt. Crowley and Dr. Gates. Dr. Gates, being disabled, is being assisted down the stairs by the ever-vigilant, service oriented Sgt. C. I think the viewer gets the REAL picture. I doubt Sgt. Crowley has much of a future in Cambridge. He is too dedicated to the REAL mission of service.
Until you are beholden and bound to the Napoleonic reality that is Massachusetts public government(soon to be the entire US), or to any job obligation that you MUST fulfill in order to feed your family and pay the bills, judging the good Sgt.’s decision, his or otherwise, only provides self-serving satisfaction. Given the exact same circumstances, I doubt Mr. Ringer, as much as I respect and appreciate his views and comments, would have chosen differently.
Remember, this is a state that denies and ignores the “Castle Doctrine” of self-defense in one’s own home. What makes anyone think they will support and defend their own employees/officers against unsubstantiated and racially motivated charges?
Regarding the comment about BHO’s election: Guilty white liberals and far-right christian purists (RWCPs) elected Mr. Obama. The first for obvious reasons… because they felt guilty about some historical wrong against blacks that they must atone for. The RWCPs are guilty because they refuse to look at the totality of the platform running and would not vote for Mr. McCain because he MIGHT be the dreaded “pro-choice” Republican. In addition, there are many documented incidents of suspected voter fraud and abuse in many areas where Mr.O’s support was higher than expected, including one in Philadelphia in which apparent non-BHO voters were intimidated physically by three members of the New Black Panther Party… who were summarily NOT prosecuted. Try that if you’re not the right race! Sorry for meandering into the negative.
Keep in mind, Mr. Ringer, that we’re talking about a police officer here, a member of a group who has been probably the most slammed organization since the Civil Rigths era. These guys get so much unfair scrutiny and criticism that you really can’t blame them for trying to avoid incidents that can be painted as racism.
I’m willing to bet his department might have played a part in it as a way to avoid trouble; frankly, I can already see the headlines screaming “Police department still racist!” had he turned Obama’s offer down and such things are not what police departments need right now. I’m not saying I’m happy he didn’t, but most of us aren’t in the position he’s in; I’ve read enough stories of police officers being fined, dismissed from the force, and sent to jail to understand why they take extra care when race is involved.
Professor Gates was an ass who doubtless did his utmost to provoke, but what cause did Crowley have to arrest him? I’ve heard no claim that Gates was physically threatening, and I don’t buy the notion that “disrespect to authority” is in and of itself an actionable offense. On the main point of the blog entry, I agree: Crowley should not have attended the fatuous “summit.”
Your suggestion on how the policeman should have responded to Obomba’s invitation reminds me of the scene in Atlas Shrugged, when John Galt is taken at gunpoint to a news conference and told to simply say “Hi”. He quickly leaned aside so that the gun at his back was revealed and he, refusing to become economic dictator of America, said, “Get the hell out of my way.”
Can’t think of better words to respond to Obomba’s programs for socialized medicine, instead of private choice and all his other dictatorial intentions.
Mr. Obomba, I was born in America, the land that was designed to protect the rights of individuals like me. Get the hell out of my way.”
