A Message from Iran

By Robert Ringer - Monday, June 22, 2009

By Robert Ringer

It’s hard to believe that just thirty years ago Iranians revolted against the Shah, and an Islamic republic was born. Millions of Westernized Iranians fled the country, with a million of them settling in Los Angeles alone.

And a large percentage of the remaining population, particularly the young, has never quite taken a shine to the Islamic police-state lifestyle. Isn’t it amazing that no matter how repressed a people may be and for how long a period of time, they still yearn for freedom?

Of course, the last Iranian revolution was led, or at least inspired, by that guy who didn’t smile a whole lot when Mike Wallace asked him what he thought about Anwar Sadat saying he was a lunatic. Poof! Just like that, the Shah was gone and Islamic fascists rushed in to fill the power vacuum.

Alvin Toffler describes the result of such revolutions in The Third Wave:

Time and again during the past three hundred years, in one country after another, rebels and reformers have attempted to storm the walls of power, to build a new society based on social justice and political equality. Temporarily, such movements have seized the emotions of millions with promises of freedom. Revolutionists have even managed, now and then, to topple a regime. Yet each time the ultimate outcome was the same. Each time the rebels recreated, under their own flag, a similar structure of sub-elites, elites, and super elites.

In other words, nothing much changes for the masses, no matter who controls the reins of power. However, by creating the illusion of freedom, so-called democratic governments are more likely to gain the support of their subjects. Give the masses enough sporting events, reality TV, and credit-card-created vacations and they can be enticed into remaining quite docile.

What’s especially attractive about the democratic form of rule from the viewpoint of, say, a president is that it decreases the chances of his ending up doing the Il Duce Exit … you know — shot, kicked, stoned, and hung upside down by his toes. Now that’s what you call a career-ending indignity.

No one knows how the current revolution in Iran will turn out, but regardless of what happens, it’s inspiring to see people defying the government. Human beings have freedom running through their veins. Even progressives have it. The only catch is that they don’t want others to be free.

As I watch the freedom-hungry Iranians protesting in the streets, I wonder to myself if those Americans who still test negative for Kool-Aid feel a tinge of motivation to take action. Does it inspire them at all to see people halfway around the globe trying to overthrow a fascist regime for the second time in thirty years?

Attention Americans: Remember when your brothers and sisters rose up, behind bodacious Boris Yeltzin, and overwhelmed the seventy-year-old Soviet Union dictatorship? And remember how, shortly after that, your brothers and sisters rose up and tore down the Berlin Wall?

So long as a government employs the Machiavelli Jackboot Philosophy of Rule, it’s tough for people to try to start a revolution. Lenin, Stalin, Castro, Ho Chi Minh, Mao Zedong, and, of course, the King of Glitz, Saddam, were all tops at wielding this kind of power. I tell you, that’s a cast of characters who knew how to make would-be revolutionaries shake in their sandals at the thought of, say, being disemboweled.

If today’s “Supreme Leader,” Ali Khamenei, and his sidekick, Mahmoud the Madman, don’t crack down quickly — with overwhelming force — the new Iranian revolution could get out of hand. But if they employ the Machiavelli Jackboot Philosophy of Rule, it could end like Tiananmen Square.

Either way, Americans should take note. A lot of non-Kool-Aid drinkers must know by now that a fascist dictatorship is brewing in Washington. In fact, it’s been in the making for more than 100 years. And now that the reincarnation of Saul Alinsky has pressed the progressive accelerator to the floor in the Oval Office, the response has been a few scattered “tea parties” — planned in advance, yet.

As one would expect, the progressives snicker at such feeble attempts at protest, and White House staffers swear that the Master of Misdirection hasn’t even noticed them. And maybe he hasn’t. After all, he’s been busy nationalizing banks and automakers, preparing to abolish private health care, and setting in motion green laws to fight non-existent global warming and take control of virtually every aspect of your life.

There is only one thing that will get the attention of the current rulers in Washington — millions of people taking to the streets, protesting twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, nationwide. Sorry, but you don’t put revolutions on pause just to watch the NBA finals or spend a weekend at the beach. No violence necessary — just loud, nonstop protesting.

And the protesting has to happen soon — or it will be too late. Once ACORN takes full control, U.S. elections will be about as fair as the recent presidential election in Iran. And the resulting police state should be about as much fun as the one Iranians are risking their lives to get rid of.

Let’s be honest: There’s not a whole lot of difference between a progressive fascist and an Islamic fascist. If it walks like a fascist and talks like a fascist — you know what mean … I hope.

Right now, every non-Kool-Aid drinker in America should be shouting: “Don’t start the (peaceful) revolution without me!”

Be there.

I completely agree with this. For years now I have worked hard to stay informed, read good books and learn ideas, wrote letters to the editor, worked on campaigns, signed petitions, attended protests, debated people on issues and after all this I see this stat on Fox News today…

People searched “John and Kate plus 8″ 4 TIMES MORE THAN the “HEALTH CARE REFORM”! I tell you this sickens me as a freedom loving American. That dictator in Washington known as Obama is in the process of creating the largest new welfare program (free health care)in a generation, ruining the greatest health care system in the world and raising taxes on all of us to do it and people are searching reality TV show gossip ?!??!!!

I can’t remember which Roman philosopher was quoted as saying “give them bread and circuses” but whoever he was he must be coaching Obama! Give the plebs some reality TV and they go to sleep at the wheel! Disgusting!

  2. samarimom says:

Just as you stated in the beginning of this article many people came to America after the ousting of The Shaw. Just as the Cuban’s did. My father stayed in Cuba to fight against Castro after his take-over. He was excuted a week after the Bay of Pigs. But often the people just runaway and wait for the USA to do something for them. They come here and live. Where do we go when our country is ruined by the socialist trying to overthrow our government? I saw the people that moved here from Iran protesting in our streets on the news. Maybe if they would stay and fight for a better way of life instead of running away they could create real change. I look at all the cowards in Miami that claim to be Cubans’ but they ran away and chose to be American’s. There are so many people like that in this country now I fear we are a becoming a nation of cowards.

  3. joshchambers says:

Obviously, I agree completely. The problem is, not enough people care enough to make a difference. Today, the tobacco industry was cut off at the knees. While I don’t smoke and hate smoking on general principal, the fact the government has now allowed an agency to say “You can’t do this anymore” to ANY industry is more than troubling, it’s terrifying. Yet what do we see? People screaming praises at this legislation that will keep kids from smoking! Even if EVERY SINGLE CLEAR-HEADED PERSON were to take to the streets, that’s only maybe 30% of our population right now. And the other 70% would cheer their government as the police make Tienanmen Square look like a day at the park. If we rise peaceably, we die. Maybe not today, but there would be camps IMMEDIATELY set up to “re-educate” protesters. I’ve studied enough history to want nothing to do with the camps. If we rise violently, the government has the reason they need to drop the Jackboot. While I wouldn’t even think twice about dying so my son may have a chance at freedom, I want there to be a good chance of it. If we as people just rise up, we are playing into the government’s hands. My personal opinion: Unless we can convince more than 50% of the armed forces that their job of defending the Constitution from enemies BOTH FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC means turning against their commander in chief, rising will only delay a return to freedom, because all freedom lovers are dead. Let this country get it’s dictatorship, and in about 20 years, when they finally tire of it, start the revolution, with 70% of the populace behind it. In the meantime, I’m leaving the country.

    Henry David Thoreau…..
[1849, original title: Resistance to Civil Government]

“I heartily accept the motto, “That government is best which governs least”; and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically. Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe–”That government is best which governs not at all”; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which the will have. Government is at best but an expedient; but most governments are usually, and all governments are sometimes, inexpedient. The objections which have been brought against a standing army, and they are many and weighty, and deserve to prevail, may also at last be brought against a standing government. The standing army is only an arm of the standing government. The government itself, which is only the mode which the people have chosen to execute their will, is equally liable to be abused and perverted before the people can act through it.”

    Dear moderator,

I would like to resubmit my comment. I made an error in phrasing that might cause confusion. Please disregard the first comment that I submitted and substitute the one below.

By the way, thank you for all of your important work on this blog. It is a real pleasure and a priceless benefit to read and ponder Mr. Ringers thoughts. Have a fine day……

It is undoubtedly true that “millions of people taking to the streets, protesting twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, nationwide” would be a catalyst for a revolution; however, if all people did was run their mouth and nothing more, then this would not lead to a powerful and full blown type of revolution that results in sweeping and lasting political and cultural change. I ask you: in and of itself, would millions of people taking to the streets in a peaceful protest drive the socialists from power? Probably not. Would it change the corrupt fractional banking system that is managed by the Federal Reserve? Probably not. Would it change how the politically connected run big business in America? Probably not. Would it change those hypocritical Republicans who talk about small government at the same time they are exponentially enlarging government? Probably not.

Let me quot an enemy of mine who understands something about human nature, the masses, and what motivates a true revolution. His name is Saul Alinsky and he said, ” Any revolutionary change must be preceded by a passive, affirmative, non-challenging attitude toward change among the mass of our people. They must feel so frustrated, so defeated, so lost, so futureless in the prevailing system that they are willing to let go of the past and change the future. This acceptance is the reformation essential to any revolution.”

My enemy, Mr. Alinsky, understood what motivates masses of people i.e. SEVERE UNRELENTING ANGUISH.

That is why individuals like Glen Beck and Robert Ringer, who call for action now “before it is too late,” will inevitably have to accept the reality that even though they are right on what should be done by the masses i.e. act now in all of our long term best interests; they are dreaming if they think that millions of people are going to act in their own long-term best interest in order to prevent the coming catastrophe. The vast majority of people will not even know what kind of anguish is hitting them when the catastrophe unfolds. And it is precisely at this critical point in time that individuals who think like Saul Alinsky will make their move. For us who oppose: there will be a window of opportunity to effectively counter-punch the socialists when they make their move. With the right timing we might even totally cut off and uproot socialism like a weed.

    Be Ready.

I don’t see a whole lot of different from What Obama & “Progressives” are doing to what Bush and the “Conservatives” are/were doing at least Economically and Financially-wise,..maybe they’ve dressed it up in different clothing…The Problem w/ BUSH was he was NOT a “Conservative”(Okay maybe socially) But on everything else he was a raging extemeist–Oh, I know what he preached- But his ACTIONS were anything but “Conservative”,..and OBAMA ? he is continuing down a similar path that BUSH was taking us –(Okay maybe socially he’s different)And the problem is OBAMA is Not acting like a “Prgressive”-ie: trying to Change things for the better,..Both parties are NOT living up to their IDEALS–if they WERE we probably would NOT be in this Mess !!!! A real “Progressive” would not be following the extremeist doctrine carried over from the previous Extremist administration,..Bush and his Actions were anything but “Conservative”,..REAL conservatives know this,..They also Know that if we had a TRUE “Conservative” in office the previous 8 years we would not be talking about a “Progressive” President..(Not a true progressive-as we have established),..Anyway..my point is,..TIME FOR A THIRD PARTY,..Gotta LOVE America !!

  8. mile54 says:

Oh, come on! You folks have been watching WAY too much Fox news! This is simply fear-mongering. The media does have a slight liberal bias, granted, but your elected officials, especially your president, are NOT out to destroy the nation and your way of life. Get a grip!

  9. Reality seeker says:

    joshchambers,

You stated in your comment that, “While I wouldn’t even think twice about dying so my son may have a chance at freedom, I want there to be a good chance of it.”

I agree with you. That is why I will not put too much of my time, money, or life on the line in behalf of some poorly brewed protest such as a “Tea Party;” because I don’t think there is a good chance of counter attacking and defeating socialism be use of these means.

I don’t blame you for picking up and leaving America for another location. And I too, have a location already secured that I can flee to and fight the American socialists from:however, I must tell you that if America completely falls to a dictatorship, then you and I can run but, we can’t hide ourselves or our families from socialism forever; because after the fall of America, socialism will then proceed to become completely globalized. Dear sir, what will you do when and if you’ve cornered yourself and your family in a foreign country that falls for socialism right behind America?

I share your lack of trust in the average American who knows not what horrors socialism will cause in America and the rest of the world. Most Americans desire socialism—— and they don’t even understand the consequences of their desire.

The only thing I would ask you Mr. JoshChambers, and individuals like you, is to reconsider totally giving this country up to the socialists and as you say, “letting this country get it’s dictatorship….. for the next 20 years.” If you’re truly a man of action who cares about his son’s future and you are willing to die, then please reconsider. Reconsider what? Reconsider this: That there is a way in which to defeat the socialists just before they install a dictator. Why just before and not after? It is during this crucial time, just before a dictator is installed, that the odds will be most favorable to turn the tables and execute a counter-revolution. Why do I believe that? Because just before the socialists attempt to install a dictator they will need to tell the masses of people why they are doing so. And the reason why will be because of the intensifying suffering the masses will be experiencing from the final and dramatic collapse of western civilization. A dictator will then be presented as a “savior.” At this future point in time, when the savior is named, then it is our patriotic and freedom loving duty to act. It does not matter how you resist, really, it just matters that you go all in 100%

If you wish to protest non-violently, then may I suggest you begin educating yourself on how to do so. A good place to start is by visiting THE ALBERT EINSTEIN INSTITUTION and downloading a free copy of From Dictatorship to Democracy by Gene Sharp. Mr. Sharp’s book lists 198 ways in which you can protest without direct violence.

If you wish to learn how to protest by employing violent means, then for now, you must do your own research, I cannot help you. It would be untimely and inappropriate for me to aid you on this site(which is not mine) and at this point in time.

Not now, but in the future; there is going to be a short period of time when the odds are very favorable to kill off American Socialism and totally defeat any would be dictator.

    Be prepared.

  10. Nosh says:

I am taking this opportunity to straighten the misconception of the “Islamic Revolution” in Iran. Iran was already Islamic under the Shah. So it was not and couldn’t have been a religious uprising of the faithful. What really happened is as follows. And I was there.

Jimmy and Roslyn Carter visited Iran around December. We were watching his televised address to Iranians during the dinner given in their honor by the Shah. He stood up and said “I asked Roslyn where she wanted to spend the holidays and she said “Why, with the Shah and Shahbanoo of course!”. He then said “I would like to congratulate the Shah on the progress made by Iran and we hope to see it continue in the years to come.

They say the camera never lies. We were being shown the face of a congenital liar and for some reason most of us had a sense of foreboding. Two months later the Shah was ousted.

The core frontline players in this deceit were Jimmy Carter, the State Department, France, Russia and the damn British. The stage for the demise of Soviet Russia had already been set and the Shah was no longer needed to keep an eye on the Soviets. So much so, that part of the preparation of handing over the keys of the Iranian “kingdom” to absolute thugs and murderous cut-throats, US expatriates on the Soviet/Iran border were asked to dump all technical manuals into boxes, keep the ICBM silos open and just leave the area within 24 hours. The State Department had made a pact with the Soviets — Afghanistan in exchange for Iran. As you know, the Soviets attacked that country after Khomeini took power in Iran.

Students at the University of Tehran were brainwashed by the British with socialist literature that made them rise up in the name of Democracy. Their heady visions extended to not having to work for a living when the wealth from the sale of oil could, should and would be divided equally amongst all Iranians.

But, the clergy had other ideas. They were going to leverage an Ayatollah who had been exiled by the Shah and who was given sanctuary in Paris. They planned to bring him in and thereby create a theocracy. The State Department *apparently* fell in with their plans to have Khomeini replace the Shah. General Houser was seen to freely go and come into Tehran without the Shah being aware. He was busy convincing the Iranian Armed Forces and especially the Shah’s personal bodyguard to lay down their arms. So other than the countless young “visionaries” from Tehran University serving as cannon fodder, it was practically a bloodless revolution.

Jimmy had other plans. Unbeknownst to Khomeini he had plans to put one of the Shah’s Generals in the Shah’s place. It was all about the oil. The Shah had been a leading proponent of OPEC and his goal was to stop selling the black stuff to the US and the British at very subsidized rates.

When Khomeini got wind of it he took hostages and called America the Great Satan, because Satan always lies.

Let’s move forward by 30 years. We recently saw the makings of another “REVOLUTION”. The same students who were in their 20′s were now in their 50′s protesting against an oppressive regime that they had helped to establish 30 years ago. Well, what goes around…….comes around.
